Hi, Robin. I've only been here since December's Vile Bodies read. Its a great group to explore post-1910 reads with.

Welcome, Robin, glad you have joined. It certainly sounds as if you read a great variety of books. I try to get into audio books, but I often seem to find them hard to follow for some reason - I tend to get on best with short stories or plays in that format..
Welcome, Robin. Even if you can't read group books, there is a lot of general discussion. I have also embraced Audible, as a way of reading while doing other things :)
Hi everybody!Existing group member and Goodreads friend Roman Clodia brought this group to my attention while we were discussing the perils of what may get lost when books are translated. Incidentally, three additional Goodreads friends are also current members so I'm delighted to join and see some familiar faces.
I'm based in west coast United States and read mostly literary fiction, historical fiction, and classics; plus the occasional non-fiction or memoir. I also love short stories.
I likely won't be able to participate in group reads, but if I can add any insight to a discussion on a book I've read, or perhaps even join in on a group read sometime, I definitely will.
Happy to join and l Iook forward to all your ideas and thoughts on great literature of the 20th century. No doubt I'll get some great book recommendations from here. 😊
Hello everyone!I recently found this group and joined because I read a lot of 20th century literature and there is so much more that I want to read! I also really like that the group has author threads with authors I’m interested in reading.
I have lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1990. I’ve also lived in New England, the Midwest, and the South but am most comfortable here in the Southwest with its sunny skies and low humidity! My reading preferences include literary fiction, historical fiction, sci-fi, and I’m starting to read more classics. I don’t read a lot of non-fiction but I do enjoy the genre especially history and medical topics. My #1 interest, outside of family and books, is bluegrass music. I look forward to discussions in the group!
Welcome Carrie, Cindle and Pam, great to meet you all. What a great spread of literary interests you all have.
Hi everyone,Thanks, Susan, for introducing me to this group. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Stalingrad’ with all of you. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I am now reading ‘Life and Fate’ also by Vasily Grossman. I read a variety of genres, but I am particularly fond of history. I also love music.
I look forward to catching up with your discussions.
Welcome, TBV. We have a buddy read of Life and Fate coming up on October so you will be very welcome to share your thoughts.
Thank you, Judy and Hugh.I look forward to reading comments and reviews of Life and Fate, and I hope to participate in the discussions.
Hello. I’m Clare and I live in Gloucester in the UK. I love the idea of exploring some of the wonderful books that don’t get as much attention now as they deserve. Picking just a few favourite authors is really hard, but at the moment I’m enjoying getting to know Penelope Fitzgerald’s work. I hope to share in some of the Group Reads, but I may not manage any this coming month as I’ve just started Vasily Grossman’s nearly 1000-page long Stalingrad. When I’m not reading, I enjoy music of all eras, photography, art galleries and museums, and trying to train my 5-month-old Miniature Schnauzer, Oskar.
Hi Clare - welcome to the group. I've also recently discovered Penelope Fitzgerald and we also read Stalingrad as a buddy read, so, once you have read it, you might like to have a look at the discussion thread.
Hi Clare - good to have you on board.P Fitzgerald - I have read Offshore and keep intending to readThe Book Shop as it sounds pretty decent. Just wondering whether you have read it?
Thank you, Susan and Ian. I read Offshore recently and loved it. I’ve also read The Blue Flower and The Beginning of Spring. As for the rest, I’m trying to space them out to prolong the time in which there’s a new Penelope Fitzgerald to discover.
I would also love to read her biography, Clare. She sounded a fascinating character. We read Human Voices
in the group and I loved it.

Greetings! My name is Joy and I live in Northern Nevada, US (near Lake Tahoe). I have been reading books from the 20th century this year and finding limited places where they are discussed, so I thought I'd join this group. I enjoy reading the classics and hope to catch up on many books from the 20th century that I've not had a chance to read before. I read primarily literary fiction, historical fiction, and non-fiction (mostly about history, exploration, or science). I also love the arts. I will occasionally read contemporary fiction or science fiction.
This year, some of my favorites from this era are: Peony by Pearl S. Buck, The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, A Fine Balance By Rohiston Mistry, The Good Shepherd by C. S. Forester, and The Hours by Michael Cunningham. I like to read literature from around the world.
I look forward to interacting with you!
Welcome Joy. That was my mother's name. I went to Tahoe once many years ago. It was beautiful. I'm a transplant to western NC.
Which of these forthcoming discussions tempts you Joy?

You can also revive any of the past discussions too. You'll usually find someone happy to take part in older discussions.
Welcome to the group once again

Hello I just joined literally minutes ago *waves*My name is Carrie and I have been reading longer then I can even remember. I love a wide range of genres, books in the realm of the fantastical are my go to. But my second love is history which was also my favorite subject in school especially the 20th century, as much as I find other periods fascinating, there is something about our recent history, I believe it's because having it be so big a role in our lives now and knowing people who have lived through different events, or parents knowing and tell you about people living through those events. I love WWI &WWII stories.
Hi Carrie - welcome to the group! We're glad you found us - I also love books about WWI and WWII. I hope you find lots to interest you.
Hi,everyone.I read almost everything, except horror and fantasy.See quite a few subjects of my interest in this group.
