Where is Nigel now?

The Mighty Farage is mighty quiet these days.

So, he's not being quiet but no-one is watching him.

message 3055: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 1369 comments Perhaps someone should be keeping an eye on him, just in case?

Any volunteers? (I'm busy, tidying my sock drawer). 😉

Special version for Serial and Brass (and maybe Tech): Lewdle - https://www.lewdlegame.com/

nocheese | 6824 comments Wordle is addictive. Can’t vouch for the smutty version.

message 3062: by Brass Neck (new)

Brass Neck | 3979 comments No wonder the inventor sold it for a cool $5million to NY Times. Not sure how they'll make much money since there are many versions in App stores.

To be fair starting with a rude word composed of 5 different letters like pr*** is as good a way to take a first guess as most since the chances of matching with your first shot are infinitesimal. Apparently some players always start with the same word and guard (there's a good 'un) it from others like it actually mattered.

message 3063: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 1369 comments Tried it out once or twice but I'm hooked on killer sudoku which is quite enough for me ... Funny thing is, I get the Times books with 200 in and often find the supposedly hard ones easier than the allegedly easy ones. Don't get that.

Tim Franklin | 10949 comments Got today's in 3.

message 3065: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments So I had a go at Lewdle. Got it in five, but it’s quite difficult, not sure I have wide enough vocabulary.

We're not a couple, or even a menage a trois, with Tech.

Just to clarify.

message 3067: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments Not that I’m going to make a habit of this, but I got today’s Lewdle in 2. Wordle took me 4 goes. What on earth does this say about me?

Tim Franklin | 10949 comments Val wrote: "Solved today's Quordle!! But it did take me all nine goes."

That's a new one on me. Took me nine goes also. Might have been eight but I used the wrong first letter in solving the first word, so took five goes to do that one rather than the four if I'd been a better guesser!

message 3072: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 1369 comments Must have look at that

message 3073: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments Managed today’s quordle in 9 also. I had 4 letters of my last one in the right order and couldn’t for the life of me make a word with the few remaining spare letters. Then I remembered that letters can repeat….

message 3074: by Gordon (new)

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments Only started playing Quordle yesterday. Managed today's with one line to spare.

message 3075: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22141 comments Good work Gordon. I only got three today. I knew what the remaining one was but I only had one go left and got the third. Curiously addictive!

Part and part. Those who did quordle first still have to take a one in four stab. It's more a spoiler the other way round.

One better than me.

message 3084: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments Oh, no! First go at Nerdle and got it in 2, even though I can’t count for toffee. Pure fluke, I really don’t need this as well as Wordle, Dordle and Quordle.

Try anagram solver?

message 3087: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22141 comments Thanks Isabella. Sometimes you just can't see what's right in front of your face. I had _ _ I _ _ and the letters G L A N. Of course, it was ALIGN which came to me very slowly and painfully!

Yes, it's weird the way the brain works (or doesn't, sometimes).😟 When I read your post it took me a bit to remember 'anagram'!

Post Soviet (postsoviet) | 551 comments hooray...
Got my first smartphone, arrived this tuesday. Satisfied as I got no experience to compare with. Bye bye my old nokia for 20 euros.
It took me two days to find proper music media player to install, free, no bloody ads, no fekin streaming, no useless videos and podcasts. Just basic neat interface split into, artists, albums, genres playing my downloaded files. It got equalizer too. Awesome, what a relief. phew...
App called Musicolet.

Post Soviet (postsoviet) | 551 comments Dipped my magic LG remote into the glass of tea recently (accidentally).
**** ******,**** ******* **** my arse!
That's what I said when telly started hiccupping, then showing chinese news, before losing picture completely.
Started googling on my problem, first thing (what a relief) I found out there is hidden button under the screen I could use at least to change some local channels and turn the tv on and off.

Next - I could use my new smartphone as a remote! After downloading corresponding app. Awright, got new remote from the zon now.

Where are ol' good times when in 90% cases all you have do was to give a good clout to telly from behind to resolve the issue...

message 3098: by theDuke (last edited Sep 13, 2022 01:53PM) (new)

theDuke | 6491 comments I recall back in the day, when Sky TV first came available in 1989 (i think?), my dad decided to try it out......with a new dish and box installed shortly after. We had it for just a couple of years, before dad discontinued subscribing to it. That's the only time I've ever had Sky TV. Then, Sky was broadcasting in analogue format....thus meant it was possible to tune in to overseas channels, mainly french, spanish...and german programmes. It wasn't long before i began to find the late night adult programmes....mostly the german ones! Those pre internet & mobile phone days, the world was a different place then, explicit pornography also illegal then. For a young shy and bashful yet hormonal 15yo teenager, then clueless about the opposite sex, and eager to learn 'how things worked' between the genders, for me this was the only place to learn from! School educational then was crap....all i was taught on that, consisted of a single lesson looking at diagrams of the reproductive 'systems' of each gender, and that was it. The teacher was positively victorian, was eager to 'gloss' over this all important subject as fast as possible! So, nothing on the act of sexual intercourse, not even how to practise safe sex, contraception, STDs etc, none of it. And this was during the height of the Aids crisis!

So, armed with the new fangled installed sky tv service, it wasn
't long before i discovered the ;secret channels'! Often grainy due to the distance, but i got my early education, much of it turned out to be incorrect, exaggerated and unrealistic.......but i had to start somewhere! :)

How times have changed......now, thanks to the interweb, the once banned can now be found easily at the push of button. I wonder what effect it's having on the young generations of today?

Apologies if this subject of choice is a little inappropriate folks...just thought i'd put my tuppence worth in of technologies of the past. Not all of the 'old' tech of bygone days was idiosyncratic! ;-)
