The All Not-So-New 2017/18 Weekly Punt Game
When I lived up in Cumbria back in the early 90s, I once traipsed up to Berwick to watch them play East Stirling in a league game. It ended 0-0 and my abiding memory was of 20 blokes, with oversized thighs, spending the majority of the 90 minutes simply attempting to kick lumps out of each other.

The crowd did manage to outnumber the players.

a celtic win today, or a draw, against motherwell secures killie a top 6 spot after the (ridiculous) split, and that would be entirely satisfying!
Before digital telly and the internet, the regulars from the local pub used to hire a minibus down to Berwick to watch any important English footie!
they'd get done for child neglect! abandoning the 'bairns'! :) (again, very poor!)and I haven't even mentioned our stuffing the 'bears' yesterday!

Sad to hear that Ray Wilkins has passed away after suffering a heart attack. One of football's genuine nice guys, I really hoped he would have pulled through.
aye, foe, a cultured fitba' player, i saw him a couple of times when he was playing for rangers, in fact he scored one of the sweetest goals i ever saw at rugby park (a testimonial, i believe) when he chipped over twenty players from 20 odd yards to leave the ball nestling comfortably in the corner of the net - doubt there's any footage, mind! by all accounts a decent human being!
I'd love to have seen that Tech! I remember our own MC's observation about Ray, about how he would always say "My Word!" when commentating, when what you really knew he meant was "F**k Me!" Always makes me smile. :-)
