Team Reading Competition Rules

I doubt words per page on poetry is much worse than the YA books we're reading... unless you're reading poetry with very few words per line or something... so I don't see why it wouldn't count...

Maybe I'm thinking of old-timey poetry that is basically paragraphs of text set to a rhythm...

I would be ok with people counting them as a normal book.
I will let the mods discuss this one.

Agreed.
Poetry can be counted as full pages. I'm including a text book I'm reading and like poetry it takes so much longer page to page than a normal book.
I've just posted a rule update. It's more of a clarification to how we accept new signups. I've mentioned it perspective signups via PM before, but never clarified in the rules:
As this is a team challenge, it's 100% dependent on routine participation. New signups require a minimum of 100 group comments to be considered and every participant will have to check in with their team leader periodically to maintain their place on the team. This part is important -> The 100 comment rule is a base we use to evaluate whether or not someone will be added to a team. Generally, it takes several weeks engaging participation to meet this minimum comment count. If you join the group and try to spam comments just to meet the minimum, your application to join the challenge might pend long enough for us to see you're going to stick around and interact long-term.

I really wish I could add all of the science reading I do to this competition. I read journal articles daily and today alone I read 6 journals.....

I don't add articles, but I do add all the non-fantasy books I read for job-related reasons.

Good question. In the last few months I kept updating mine at the end of the month because I wasn't able to do it in between. I use the phone GR app 99% of the time and the spreadsheet cannot be updated from there. Would that pose a problem in the future? If yes then I'll need to organise myself better and update it more often.

I could, but do you think that would be enough for you and your bunch of poultry to gain second place? 😜

That's how I get it too, I guess everyone takes his own timezone's midnight? But I don't think everyone will add the points immediatly, so I was wondering if there's a deadline at which all sheets must be up to date or won't count otherwise?

She means final spreadsheet numbers, not final reading time... final reading time is Halloween midnight,obviously...
@Anni: I'd say a couple days, to a week at the latest, probably... it mostly matters for Year 2 Drafting... while those of us who care to keep using the spreadsheet have plans to cut off anything from November/December, I assume the mods will take a "snapshot" by copying the spreadsheet to their personal Google Drives for posterity while drafting...

Yeah I'd say try to get them entered in a "timely manner," but I'm sure we'll wait a few days for people who don't whack in very often.

I knew what she meant. That's why I said that I'd assumed the deadline for what counts as points, not entering points. No need to "obviously" me... It might have been up for debate! XD

I can't be the only one that chuckled reading that, right? :p

Don't worry about it mate, I was in full on grouch mode at work when I read it and also let me fingers get ahead of my rational brain! 😂

@Virginie...😂😂😂
And then there are the things other ppl say to him....such as...these are ACTUAL unedited comments addressed to the Doctor but **names have been changed to protect the (innocently) culpable**

And THEN there is also you + me + Anni...in fact, gotta wonder how Iain survives daily in this tripwired minefield, no?
Altho' if I were a dude, Gin, and a beautiful womam asked me (with a breathless hitch in her voice) whether or not I was from a phantasy world...my first impulse wouldn't be to *snort* tell her the truth.
Nooooo...I will merely smile a secret smile and let an unnamed sadness flit over my noble brow...haha...
*KICK*
Darn, I was totally saving these two SPLENDID inspiring source materials for a truly stupendous occasion...but considering how Brother just crushed the tourney + I am in Evil Mood today, I thought I will just place him a few random disconnected kicks around the threads...like a trashy toilet paper chain...

you go in deep man 😂🤣😂

Yup, that's the normal reaction!

You gotta go deep, when dealing with wet pumps... right Virginie? (I had to go digging in the archives for the appropriate reference)

This was during the "we're fluffers so let's write 5 pages of dirty jokes" event right?

Yea, back in June... the wet pumps was a work conversation tho... you said you had a hard time keeping a straight face through it all...
Deep foundation techniques... wet and dry pumps... wetness of the micropiles... etc...

Yea... the competition ended 30 days ago... you can replace the formulas at the top with hard numbers that won't change if you want to keep tracking everything you read this year, without screwing with the official scores from the Halloween cutoff... did you include everything you read through October, at least?... I haven't seen you around much, lately...

The way I update my books now is I plug the book name into the spreadsheet, then I use the chain-link button at the top to add a URL link... I search the book name plus goodreads, and click on the link to the book page on goodreads... then I open that link in another tab to get the page count and input it to my spreadsheet... also good for looking at the cover to see what Book Cover challenge I can use it for, if it doesn't fit into one of my other challenges...
