Ok, that really was quick. I finished. I didn't realize there was an excerpt also. I thought it was cute and had some lovely quotes, but it was much too short. I was a bit annoyed with the epilogue, though. (view spoiler)

lorii (Loriidae) | 1120 comments I was also surprised as to the trip to New York.

She certainly has a lot of growing up to do!

Yes it is good that Nate is making her question her shallow ideals.

lorii (Loriidae) | 1120 comments We forget that small problems had such deadly consequences, (Nate's sister). And that modern medicine is a relatively new innovation

lorii (Loriidae) | 1120 comments Yes! The letter was unfair and perhaps an indication that viola hasn't matured as much as we had hoped.

I thought the full out sex scene happened way too soon in the relationship. I don't get how a girl who is holding out for a duke throws her virginity away so lightly. She had only just begun thinking a little differently.

Nate was a little one dimensional with no character development. I think it suffered from being the typical novella that had a lot of potential to be fleshed out into something with a lot more depth.

lorii (Loriidae) | 1120 comments I hope The Lady in Red is an improvement in novella structure. :)

It did happen way too soon! Even if we didn't see much of it, they could have been meeting in secret for days, and that be mentioned. It could have been two sentences. I agree on Nate too, just much too short for depth of character for him and their relationship.

Looks like I am outta luck on the library and will be purchasing the last one.

lorii (Loriidae) | 1120 comments I am home after a long day hanging around airports. Still coughing!!

Joanna when are we starting #3.? Did we set a date? I have been in such a haze the last month.

No date set, so when works for you?

Glad to hear your home, and sad to hear you're still coughing! They can really linger. Hopefully the change in climate drives it away for you.

lorii (Loriidae) | 1120 comments is it ok if we start later in the month? I said I would read Eloisa James with Giselle this weekend and then we have demon duke on the 17. So after that?

lorii (Loriidae) | 1120 comments Yes it is so nice to be warm ,after thirty years of the tropics my blood has thinned so when I go south i really feel it. My brother now owns my childhood home. It froze under the clothesline while I was there and they are heading into summer, (of course i was happy not to have days of 110 which can happen in high summer. )
