suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Ohhh? - something is happening on Amazon!!! ;oO

I just tried to post an answer to a friend on Deals and I got a page come up telling me that my Username was no longer valid anymore and asking me to make another one up instead?!! I didn't want to in case I confused him and so I had to let my Post go unposted.

It seems I don't exist on Amazon anymore? ... and I'm actually in tears here ... ;o< ... ;o< ... ;o<

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments How dare they! You're too good for them.

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Twelfth time, it suddenly let me in to say my Goodnight and Goodbye - I'm SO glad because my friend is 92 years old, a fulltime Carer for his Wife and he loves his Good Mornings and Goodnights from his Forum friends.

I wonder if Amazon has got any idea at all as to just how cruel and heartless this Closure is - how much it will hurt and isolate people? It is just SO incredibly unfair that this is happening ;o<

EDIT: The Deals Forum appears to be on lock-down, to me at least - the Post Boxes are there but they won't let me in anymore.

Craig White | 6727 comments same here. that would appear to be that then! hell men' thum! :)

(although technically speaking, we're still on amazon! no?)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments You know full well that it's coming and you think you are ready for it ... and then it happens? ... and it just feels absolutely terrible! ;o<

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments I'm so busy trying to keep up with several new forums, plus I just joined Twitter - I can't cope with all this interaction!

message 268: by Gordon (last edited Oct 11, 2017 01:38PM) (new)

Gordon (skiiltan) | 2940 comments If anyone sees Helen (with or without melon), please tell her that I moved the tip-top telly thread into a new folder called "TV, cinema, theatre, etc."

I've also created two temporary folders for people from the Classical and Deals forums so you can give your friends directions if they choose to move here. Ideally I would want to delete these folders in a week or so and move the threads to whichever other folder(s) is/are appropriate. Don't want no ghettoes.

message 269: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments Gordon, there is no need for a Deals Forum one as they have already set up their own Group elsewhere and the Moderator has shut it down to being a Private Group Forum that is open to Members only as well.

I very much doubt that they will want to give up on their new Forum to want to come join us on here - but bless you for being so welcoming and so accommodating of everyone ... x x x ;o>

The user name they were quoting me wasn't nocheese, but my actual name, so I tried nocheese, but that didn't work either, so I tried 'A Customer', still no go. Bastards (sorry for swearing, Gordon).

I've just noticed our Usernames are fluctuating on the Threads between being 'A Customer' and our real names!!! Could Amazon be even less caring of their Customer's rights to Forum privacy as part of their shut-down?!!

I have nothing to hide but it annoyed me so much that this is happening that I just went into my Account and temporarily changed my real name to my Username to try and prevent it from happening to me too. I don't know if it will work but it is worth a try. I'll change it back again when the Forums have been wiped out which I reckon will probably be sometime later on Friday or early Saturday.

I just noticed that too suzy. I went into my profile and changed it back to nocheese, but it doesn't seem to have worked. I agree with you about the privacy thing, it's disgraceful.

message 286: by nocheese (new)

nocheese | 6824 comments In spite of all the bad publicity about how badly Amazon treat their workforce, I have rather guiltily continued to buy stuff from them - it's just so damn convenient and cheap. However, they have now gone too far, I have made my final purchase. So there.

message 288: by suzysunshine7 (new)

suzysunshine7 | 16038 comments I'll still be buying some stuff from Amazon because, to be honest, I can't afford not to do so - but not already being on the site for the Forums anymore will mean I spend far less time wandering around and looking around at everything and so I'll definitely be buying less off them in future.

I tend to buy more from eBay anyway but just recently Amazon's prices have suddenly become as competitive as eBay's on a lot of my usual stuff like Dog Food and Toiletries - and I've done very well out of it this year.

One advantage with eBay is they often offer free delivery. However I download a lot of albums these days and often Amazon’s the only place.

I had to fight with the System to get in to say Goodnight to ron once last time and then that was it, nikky - it happened at around quarter to nine.

Poor ron is in for an awful shock tomorrow when he comes online to say Good Morning, isn't he? I've kept on trying to warn and to prepare him for it happening but I'm still not sure if he really understood that this actually was THE end of the Forums?

I even created and gave him an Email Address for myself that I could post online to him but as to whether he made a note of it, I have no idea? ;o<

And on eBay you can also collect and spend and find many ways to earn extra Nectar Points as well. However this year, I've found Amazon to be suddenly upping their game, improving their offers and slashing their prices and so I've been buying far more off them.

Hi Suzy, I tried a while ago and could not post anything, no matter what I tried, so I went and had a live chat explaining the spitefulness of it all, I am promised an email from their internal dept within 24 hours! Hah as if that will change anything!
It is just so spiteful to take the forums away from so many that they meant so much to.
I reckon spacepig needs to make a few more of his cakes, they Amy be of some help....;-)

theDuke | 6492 comments Hello....just realised that's it for Zon's forums......I do hope ron will find his way over to here.....he so enjoyed his good mornings & good nights with us on the deals forum. Glad to see a few more made it over...here's hoping no one else gets left behind.

One door closes.....another beckons....rock on Goodreads! :)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments I could definitely do with some cake right now.

message 298: by theDuke (last edited Oct 11, 2017 07:24PM) (new)

theDuke | 6492 comments Hiya GingerLily.....just catching up..i guess things will get busier on here now....still not sure what to do with the other group I've joined from the deals forum 'Deals Not Done', formed by Apples. So far just 12 members on that one so far, as some Deals posters still haven't joined up yet, plus some of the deals forum posters have joined this one instead. . Deals Not Done is a public group, so folks can join that one too, if they wish to. The link is:

https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

It's possible, in time these tow groups may merge...personally I think it'll be better...as the more folks in one place, the more participants we may get on the many threads now set up here. However, that said...some of them aren't interested in the music games and such like. I guess we'll shall see.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 600 comments I think a group has to either grow or die. If you don't get new blood in eventually people will drop out for various reasons and there will just be a handful left. The UK Kindle group I am in is very good because we got in lots of new people and are over 5000 members now. Of that maybe 50 or so post regularly, and that is enough to keep it fresh. Some of the originals are still there but many are not, and it needs to keep on going.

message 300: by theDuke (last edited Oct 11, 2017 07:29PM) (new)

theDuke | 6492 comments Is 12 members enough to sustain a group? I noticed the American one I also joined...has so far, has only 14 members in it. Doesn't seem to me like they'll go the distance.

This group now has 50 members....with the possibility of a few more to join up soon.
