I'm copying this idea from another group I'm in - can't remember the name off the top of my head, but it's something to do with adults that like to read YA books.

The general premise is to post the first line of the book you're currently reading. I thought it was a really cool idea and wanted to implement it here.

That series is AWESOME! One of those that I wish I could read for the first time all over again. And that I wish they would make a movie or TV series out of. :)

Haha yes I feel the same way! I LOVE Meg Cabot. Other than YA, I believe she only has three series...Queen of Babble (which I read and loved), Heather Wells (currently loving) and The Boy (or something like that). Which is so sad because I want more!!!

She has another one that has to do with vampires....I'm a wuss when it comes to those so I won't read them. And The Boy....I didn't like that one so much. :/

LOL, usually two at once. And I was almost done with the Jackson Galaxy one when I started this thread, and more than halfway through the Sophie Pembroke book. Started a new book this morning to replace the one I finished last night, and I'll have to start another one soon because I just finished the other book on my lunch. :)

Ok, starting a new one. I just couldn't do the Coco Chanel biography. The author crammed so much other stuff about what was going on during whatever time period she was talking about that it got boring for me. I'm not a fan of history and I don't want to read, in detail, about the different things that were going on in France at the time Coco Chanel was a pre-teen. Too many other books on my to read list to suffer through all of that.

So, with that, here's the first line of my new book, "On the first day of September, the world went dark." - The Geography of You and Me

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Me too! What prompted me to pull it out and read it was to try to get some excitement over my trip again. This book is crazy! I'm glad I waited until now to read it though because it makes a lot more sense now that Scott has opened up the British world to me.

She's never been outside the US - I've never either! Her first trip will be to London - hey me too! And the British character, Kit, reminds me a lot of Scott (even though he's Scottish)...craziness! Good story so far though, and I really miss RDI!!

I just realized I've been forgetting to do this! I've read a few books since the last first line I posted..that's disappointing.

Ok, so here we go....

"Once upon a time, there were three happy girls, all born into charmed, sunshiny, shampoo-commercial lives."
Driving with the Top Down - Beth Harbison

"I'd like to say that the first time I cuddled my newborn baby daughter, on 14 September 1983, was a moment that will live with me always, but it wasn't nearly as straightforward as that."

I should probably add in the book I'm reading on my iPad right now....

"The hours of Walker and Daughter: Knitters were clearly displayed in multicolored letters on a white sandwich board placed just so at the top of the stair landing."
The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs

Finally, I am getting to this book after it has been on my list forEVER!

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments Stacy, did you like Friday Night Knitting Club? I read it ages ago and really want to read the second book, but I don't really remember the first. I'm wondering if I should go back to reread it or just read the second. I do know that I loved it when I read it!

message 35: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (stacymarie913) | 5567 comments Mod
I really liked both. I don't think you'll need to re-read the first one before you get into the second one. There's enough discussion in the second one that will trigger your memory for what happened in the first.

I'm hoping to get to the third one soon.

message 36: by Bianca (new)

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments Stacy, good to know! I guess I'll just pick up the second one then and start reading.

I'm so close to being done. I haven't had much time to read it except at lunch while I'm at work. And since my lunches are back to being only half an hour, I can't read as much then either. :( But I do really like my job and the company I work for.
