J. D. was certain that Gage murdered Valerie Jarvis and Jazzie saw him. Why didn’t they put Jazzie into protective custody?

That is an excellent question! I wondered why Jazzie was so unprotected other than when at the therapy sessions.

This felt like a plot hole to me. The grandmother was always a weak link in their security and they made no provision for that.

Plot hole for sure. It seemed like no one even tried to talk to her about what happened, reassure her, and they all knew she was there.

Maybe because it was only supposition and they had to have more evidence to put Jazzie into witness protection. Or maybe because she hadn't revealed it and was emotionally damaged doing the "horse therapy" would have a better outcome than traditional methods.
