Sugakane_01 Sugakane_01 | 6 comments I'm so confused and frustrated and have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

It's my understanding that fanfiction is allowed on the site as long as it is complete (no WIP's). I am attempting to some of my works to the site and running into a couple of problems.

Every single book listed under here Sugakane_01 is mine. I added the works to the database but nowehere did I see where I could add an URL to where the works are found and this is obviously not my profile. How do I fix this?

I suspect I am adding the books from the wrong place. I click the "manually add a book" thing and add in the information but A) there is no place to add an URL so the work links to where it is hosted and B) NONE of the works I've added have ended up on my profile.

I'm logged in when I add the works. This profile name and my pen name are the same so it *should* be a perfect match and I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

Is there a separate process for adding online fiction? Am I adding them in the wrong place? What am I doing wrong?

Renske | 12231 comments You need to claim the author profile, at the end of the author profile is a link 'Is this you? Let us know.' Author profiles and user profiles are never automatically linked.

Sugakane_01 Sugakane_01 | 6 comments Thank you so much for responding. I appreciate it like you would not believe :)

I click that link and get taken to a page where all of the works that I've added are listed and then there's a thing that says "sign up to be a goodreads author" and then this message is in red:

Note: We encourage all authors to sign up under their real names, and your last name () doesn't match — we suggest you correct this before applying.

How do I proceed from here? I've hit the "submit an application button" but nothing has happened.

I started this process really excited about Goodreads and now I'm kinda ready to throw in the towel because it's just so hard and frustrating :(

Renske | 12231 comments If you have submit the application you have to wait for the staff to accept your application, which can take a few days.
It is also explained here: https://www.goodreads.com/author/program

Sugakane_01 Sugakane_01 | 6 comments Thank you for explaining.

I really wasn't prepared for this to be so hard LOL.

I am still very confused about one thing though. Is the process for adding fanfiction different from the process for adding books? Because if you follow the link on the "manually add this book" you get taken to the "add a new book" page. On that page, there is no field to add an URL. I see title, sort by title, author, ibsn, publisher, published, number of pages, format, edition, description, edition language and then work settings.

There no url field on that page anywhere.

I guess what I'm asking is how do you add fanfiction to the site?

I"m sorry to be such a bother but I really don't understand and I've searched topics but I don't see anything that explains how to specifically add fanworks to the site. I see topics discussing fanworks, but not an explanation/tutorial/information on how to add them.

No, it's the same. Fanfiction published (available to the public) on other sites can be added here as ebooks. The actual fic is not generally uploaded here, although it can be.

The site on which it is available should be listed as publisher. (Wattpad, Fanfiction.net, etc.)

Renske | 12231 comments There is no difference between a page of book or a piece of fanfiction.

The URL field is not available for everyone, but if you provide the URLs here we can added them for you. (There were to many people added URLs that should not be there.)

Sugakane_01 Sugakane_01 | 6 comments You are so awesome. I appreciate your patience so much, you really have no idea. I've been pulling my hair out for the past two days struggling with all this confusion and frustration so you are a total blessing, just thank you so much! :)

I still don't understand how/where to add an url when you create a record for the work.

For example if you go to the book page for this fanfic DILF and look where the details are, there is an url listed that links to the site where the work is hosted.

I'm sitting here looking at the "add a new book page". There is no field, anywhere, that says url.

Where do you add it and how?
