Finished American Gods the other day. I enjoyed it, however not as much as other books by Gaiman. My favourite is the still The Ocean and the end of the Lane. I'm reading 'The Mirror Stage' by J.J Stone.
Lana I noticed on the read for review thread we have a number of authors offering their books. Included in this lot is David's book
He is still looking for reviewers as far as I know.
G.G. Some of the admin team have won some great looking books lately. We are amazed at how good some of these covers look. Indie Authors are really stepping up their game when it comes to presentation and other facets of book publishing.
How is

I love the cover. :) And yes, I agree. I mostly read indies for the last year and a half and I've discovered a whole lot of little gems. Now I have mixed feeling about Zein. There are two stories in the book. One of them happened in the past, long before the actual story. I feel it should have been made into a prequel instead. There are enough info/content to fill a novel, or at least a novella. The problem is that it's been condensed mostly at the beginning of the book, which makes for a slow start.
Now before someone says that it's because it's a self-pub, it's not. I've read enough traditional-published sci-fi books to know it's not the case. It's a style. Sadly it's not one I'm not too fond of. However, so far, the rest of the book already promises to make me forget about the slow start, so all's good. :P

It's a sequel to another by this author that I read in 2012. Both books were a satifying read (3.5 stars) - a bit of mystery set in the book / art world

David's book The Singing Sand Story is excellent. (My review is posted on Goodreads).
I would love to r2r Davids book, i just dont know where the link is because i dont have my laptop this week and i cant find the thread on my phone :/
I tend to read multiple books at one time, but my focus for the next little while will be "An Echo in the Bone" by Diana Gabaldon. I have been re-reading all the earlier books in the Outlander series, but this is my first time through with this one and it is a big one so will take a while to complete.
I love that title Bev, I got shivers lol.
Lana, for you :)

How are your books so far Lorrea and Scott?
G.G. I think slow starts are only good if they are like climbing a hill and then there is a roller coaster ride down the other side lol.

I hope it's ok to post links to review? Here were my final thoughts on Zein: The Prophecy.

Ruby is a really good book!
I'm enjoying The Passage. It's much different than I expected and I thought I was done with vampires...never say never I guess.
Hello everyone. Looks like you all have some good titles you're going through. I'm currently reading Terminus so far its really good. I don't think I realized it was about a grim reaper at first but the writing is fluid and its been an enjoyable read.

The Moment Keeper by Buffy Andrews"I've got that one on my kindle so interested in hearing what you think.
I'm reading Mink River - a huge song of a book that reminds me of Under Milk Wood yet is entirely original and captivating.Mink River
I'm reading several books at the moment: November Rain by TJ West, Ashley's Bend by Cassy Roop, Preta's Realm: The Haunting by J. Thorn, and Early One Morning by Aubree Lane.
I just finished Divergent and have switched genres to a JD Robb book from the "in death" series. Love her world.
I'm reading The Summer Queen by Elizabeth Chadwick which is about Eleanor of Aquitaine's early life.
I'm alternating between I'll Sleep When I'm Dead: The Dirty Life and Times of Warren Zevon and The Magician's Land. You'd be surprised at the similarities.
I've posted my review for The Elder Unearthed: Tales of NasNoroth and the Cult of the Elder by Michael W Garza and it's an excellent read and definitely one for Lovecraft fans to check out:

I'm now onto 'Duallists' by David Wailing and I'm enjoying it so far.

I'm currently reading three different books. The first priority right now is Copyright Law for Librarians and Educators for copyright class on my Kindle. Copyright class is coming to an end. It only has one more week to go.I'm also reading The Summer Queenby Elizabeth Chadwick for Net Galley on my Kindle. It's a novel about the early life of Eleanor of Aquitaine.
My library book which is in print format is Slavery and the Meetinghouse: The Quakers and the Abolitionist Dilemma, 1820-1865 by Ryan P. Jordan. Yes, I do read history for recreation. I really like history.
My list of to read books is ridiculous. I have some obligation reads, but the one book I'm looking forward to is Gone Girl. I see the movie is coming out soon. This book has been on the NY Time Bestsellers list all year. I truly need to see what the hype is about. I hope I'm not disappointed. I doubt I will be!

Just finished reading Beauty and the Bridesmaid by Lisa Souza. Really excellent. You could read it for the humor, alone, but the social commentary leaves you thinking. One of those books that sticks with you.
