I never knew of them until a few years ago! They're so silly! I'm on the third one now.

No listening in this block. Just reading. Less than 100 pages left of The Institute. Ate dinner. Hubs is watching some scary movie so I know I won't pay attention because I don't like scary movies! lol. It's dark out now and that's when I start to flag. Hoping graphic novels will keep it fresh.

Comments:
Another block of no listening. A little late for check-in but I wanted to finish The Fall of Gilead first. Nowwww I'm pretty tired. Definitely thinking of popping an audiobook in and seeing how far I get. Though I usually get a little revived when I take my contacts out and snuggle in bed. I may have another hour in me. But anyway, I will be back for the end, not sure whether it will be for the last hour or more than that! And I've got to update my Bingo board, I think I got a blackout. Good night!

Comments:
I read one more book then succumbed to sleep. I sort of remember turning off my alarm at 5am. lol. But I did wake up at 7am and continued reading for the last hour. And then continued reading after that until I finished The Institute! Yay! I did not listen to another audiobook.

Closing Survey
How would you assess your reading overall? Pretty good! I like to hit 1000 pages and with my audiobook pages, technically I did!
Did you have a strategy, and if so, did you stick to it? I mean, isn't everyone's strategy to read as much as possible and stay awake 24 hours? lol. I will never stay awake 24 hours but I did read as much as I could.
What was your favorite snack? Peanut M&Ms and Gummy Bears! teehee
Wanna volunteer for our next event? Might do an Hourly Discussion again!

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments *boop*

Hopefully we'll be updating the website and group soon! I was looking back at last year's April 'thon and it was so early in the month so I thought it was soon! But nope, not till April 25. Is it weird to start planning now? No! Because April is #SpringIntoHorror month at Seasons of Reading and I *am* starting to plan for that! :) Actually, I'm pulling up older Dewey's readathon lists and seeing what I still haven't read and curating my list that way for this one!

message 440: by Kate (new)

Kate | 646 comments Hi Elyse, I'm starting to think about April too. I'm going to wait for the Magical Readathon prompts though because that also runs through April.

message 441: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 7 comments I'm definitely thinking about it! For the fall readathon, I usually stick to the fall theme, but in spring, I take a look at my reading goals and see where I'm not making progress and try to plan based on that. So while I am thinking about it, I probably won't start doing the hard-core planning until the end of March, when I have a clearer idea of where my reading goals stand.

message 442: by Candiebarr (new)

Candiebarr | 9 comments I decided on the books last month (I have a pile of Sabrina the Teenage Witch that I haven't read in over 10 years). Have ideas for snacks, but not sure yet. I don't usually put as much effort into snacks for April as I do for October

message 443: by Lianne (new)

Lianne Burwell (lianneb) | 7 comments It might also be a good time for a Pandemic theme to reading. I do hope that by April 25 that things will be swinging back to normal, though.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 282 comments (Side note: Hello other Lianne!! lol)

I'm pretty much always thinking about the next read-a-thon, haha! So it's never too early! I'm especially excited for it since I hardly got to participate in the October one. I'm itching for a full 24 hour one!

I don't really do the Seasons of Reading, especially since they became month-long, because I don't really understand what a read-a-thon is when it's not non-stop reading, you know? But I could definitely read a lot of horror with my R.L. Stine pile I'm working on!

I do see your point! But what else to call it? Joint Reading Endeavor? lol. I think of it more as a reading focus for the duration of a specific timeframe, since the SoS readathons are usually themed.
