Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments Thank you all!

Hello from the home of a 6-month-old! Bastien is a busy little bee and he's basically on the verge of crawling. Then I'll really be in trouble! 🤣 He's been taste testing solids for 2 months and he loves food, just like his parents! He's a fan of yellow mustard and dill pickles, surprisingly! Anything we can give him to taste, we give him. Banana, avocado, kalamata olive, carrots, apple sauce, sweet potato, soy sauce, seaweed salad (we went for sushi the other night lol), mashed potatoes, cranberry orange muffin, etc etc! He's been to 4 restaurants and was only a little fussy at one.

He's also on the verge of being able to sit up by himself so he'll be able to sit in a booster seat at a restaurant and a shopping cart comfortably. He just spent the last 2 nights in his crib in his own room and that's going well-ish. He's fine in there but he still sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night. We've never let him cry excessively so when he wakes up fully, I nurse him back to sleep IDK if that's a bad thing lol. Some early mornings he won't go back to sleep so I bring him to bed and he usually falls back asleep for a couple more hours, we usually get up between 8:30-9.

We go to Mom's Club at the hospital I gave birth at every Monday and it's so fun to see all the other babies are different stages and to see how not unique Bastien actually is. 🤣🤣 Everything he does is new to us but so normal for a baby. Two of the babies are crawling and very social, I love it. It's babies up to one year, then you get kicked out. I have an ex-coworker who had a baby boy 2.5 months after I did and we're going to be hanging out.

And the neighbors are pregnant! We spied their trash before collection (lol) and they got the same bassinet we just finished using! Too bad! We're not buddy buddy neighbors like you see on TV lol. But I saw the wife yesterday and she looks like she's due in August/September. So we may get more buddy buddy next year! We're actually in a mostly older neighborhood so having another kid so close to Bastien's age will be great. Guess us introverts will have to break our silence lol.

Anywho! There's a readathon on Friday night! I will probably be reading some KU books as I signed Rick's Amazon account up for a free 30 days because I just cancelled mine, the deal I got lasted for a couple years and just expired. I'm not interested in paying $11.99 a month. I'll probably rejoin from time-to-time but I don't use it often enough to justify keeping it consistently. I'm reading The Friend Zone (The Friend Zone, #1) by Abby Jimenez and will continue that trilogy this week. I have quite a few Libby books out and a few Hoopla books out plus more borrows to use before the end of the month. Here's what I've got:
Triptych (Will Trent, #1) by Karin Slaughter The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera Vacationland by Meg Mitchell Moore Vacationland True Stories from Painful Beaches by John Hodgman Twilight Territory by Andrew X. Pham The Ruins by Scott Smith A Peculiar Peril by Jeff VanderMeer We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver

Rick Kindle Unlimited
The Happy Ever After Playlist (The Friend Zone, #2) by Abby Jimenez Life’s Too Short (The Friend Zone, #3) by Abby Jimenez
All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata
Rowan Wood Legends (The Lost Clan, #2) by Olivia Wildenstein Rising Silver Mist (The Lost Clan, #3) by Olivia Wildenstein Raging Rival Hearts (The Lost Clan, #4) by Olivia Wildenstein Reckless Cruel Heirs (The Lost Clan #5) by Olivia Wildenstein

Cathy (cathepsut) | 577 comments Bastien sounds fabulous!

I used to have a KU account, but in the last few years I only ever used the free promotions. I get them semi-regularly as a Prime member. I just got a free 3-month period and started Relic today. Let‘s see how far I‘ll get with the series until October! I think the current subscription fee for KU is too high… 🤷

I have been using Libby for a year now, mostly for audiobooks, and I‘m pretty happy with it! Just listening to A Marvellous Light.

Looking forward to next weekend! Although, as usual, I did not manage to keep my weekend totally free. Meeting a friend for a few hours. But I will join as much as I can.

Thank you! He is pretty fabulous but I might be biased. 🤣

Yeah, it seems like they only give deals to Prime members period (my husband isn't because we just use mine) or Prime members who have never had actual subscriptions. They give nothing to Prime members who have had long subscriptions. It's kind of BS.

I'm in the queue for A Marvellous Light! I love Libby and Hoopla! I have 3 Libby accounts lol. But only one of my libraries has Hoopla.

See you around next weekend!

And you’re all prepped! I’m in a lazy month so we’ll see how that goes lol

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 566 comments Thank you for the update! Great to hear how you and Bastien are doing. (And no, nursing him back to sleep is not a bad thing. He's a growing boy with a tiny tummy. So much development going on! When he needs nourishment he needs nourishment. When he needs human contact he needs human contact. It sounds like you're doing great giving him what he needs. Good job!)

I use KU a lot, so I've kept my subscription. Although I was going to take a break from it, but then they offered me three months for the price of one when I tried to cancel. I should probably try to cancel regularly, see what they'll offer or if they'll give a "come join us again" offer after a couple of months. lol

Only prepped in terms of reading! But I don't think I'm going to really plan anything for food lol. Bastien has his 6-month appointment tomorrow and he has a meltdown a few hours after his vaccines so it's going to be a rough afternoon. Hopefully giving him some baby Tylenol this time will make things better! And I hope to get a good night's sleep tonight! lol

❤ Thank you, Leni! I have found that after I'd taken advantage of every offer to return every time I've cancelled KU, they've finally stopped offering. Hopefully in a few months they'll offer another. lol

Yes, it is! 😊 We liked the nickname Bast from The Name of the Wind and then I suggested Bastian from The Neverending Story but with an 'e'.

Last night wasn't the best sleeping for me. Good for Bastien. lol. It remains to be seen if the baby Tylenol will do the trick for Bastien's vaccine side effects. 🤞🏻 Supper is leftover steak tacos. I can't go crazy on caffeine because I'm nursing. A new league for the game my husband plays starts today so we'll be fighting over "me time." lol.
