Right, though?

And my son's father actually had the gall to suggest in my 8th and 9th month that I start sleeping on the couch because I was interfering with his sleep when I had to keep getting up to pee because he had to get up work early. I did not, of course, no way I could have fit on couch!!

After Gage was born, he had us sleep downstairs in the living room for first three months since frequent waking so we didn't disturb his sleep upstairs. My mom brought me over an air mattress for the living room floor, and I ended up getting a pulled muscle in my back and having to go on muscle relaxers and developed vertigo. Ah, fun stuff.

His family and their sleep patterns, I swear.

Oh hellllll no. You're growing and then caring for a human being, you need to get as much comfortable sleep as you can! I guess there are multiple reasons why he's your ex. lol

I like the pregnancy comments ! Everyone reported weird food cravings and sleep patterns , but NO one reported giving up books during their 40 weeks . I would like to know the titles of a few books members read during pregnancy .

I actually got into cookbooks a lot during that time because we were staying in West Virginia and had no internet, and I was alone during day and trying to teach myself how to cook. We had a leaking gas stove - scary side story there. When possible I went to stores and thrift shops to get a variety of cookbooks, got some recipe boxes, and had a lot of fun with that.

After pregnancy I remember getting into the Anita Blake series. I hate the series now after book 10, but at that time there were only 8-9 books published and I was addicted.

It is so, so good the first 8-9 books if you like Urban Fantasy but man, does it change and change and change later.

They definitely got really trashy and just focused on Anita's sex life, basically after Micah. I haven't read Dead Ice and on. But I own them all, I can't help myself. lol

message 1016: by Elyse (new)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments It's a rainy/thunderstormy day today and tomorrow should be 80F and partly cloudy which is good for outside reading! I'm off to float (http://www.truerest.com if you want the deets, basically how Eleven goes to the Upside Down 🤣) and then if it's not raining, head to a local farm for some fresh strawberries. If it is raining, head to Hannaford for strawberries and watermelon. I didn't want to buy them too early in the week and have them be rotten for tomorrow.
Then my goal is to finish The Future of Another Timeline by Annalee Newitz (a little over halfway through) before the readathon starts and that clears one more book from my Hoopla that are due on Sunday! Take the dog for a walk. Maybe prep some hourly photos for Instagram (http://www.instagram.com/winesaboutbooks). Maybe take a nap since when my husband got up at 6:15am, I didn't really fall back asleep and ended up getting up not long after. After going to bed at midnight. Boooo.

I added some graphic novels so here is my updated TBR:
Vagabonds by Hao Jingfang Father of Lions One Man's Remarkable Quest to Save the Mosul Zoo by Louise Callaghan East of West, Vol. 1 The Promise by Jonathan Hickman (Vol 1-7) Sex Criminals, Vol. 1 One Weird Trick by Matt Fraction (Vol 1-4)
I own the listed volumes and am out of Hoopla borrows for July so I will have to finish both of them in August, which is fine. I don't plan on buying the rest.
I want to start with Vagabonds by Hao Jingfang as it is 640 pages/21 hours so if I can't hack reading it, I will listen to it.
But I also have *other* Hoopla borrows due on Sunday night so I have other options:
Murder Off the Books (By the Book Mysteries, #3) by Tamara Berry (I also have the e-book from NetGalley)
After Dead What Came Next in the World of Sookie Stackhouse (Sookie Stackhouse, #13.5) by Charlaine Harris (only 47 minutes long)
The Complete Sookie Stackhouse Stories (Sookie Stackhouse) by Charlaine Harris (I've already read most of these from a previous compilation so I think I only have 5 left to read/listen)
And a buddy read: The Block Party by Jamie Day that I may or may not have already sneakily started but may or may not touch again until Sunday. lol. Happy prepping! Happy readathon night!

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 1444 comments I like the Sookie series and cozy mysteries. Looks like you've made a lot of progress this week and have tons left. Good on the nap if you can take it, sounds like we both had a little less sleep than planned. Rainy and thunderstorms can be nice sometimes for reading with ambience so hopefully power stays on, your stay sinus headache free, and it's nice and cozy!

Walking on the treadmill and sipping a little water helped my too full stomach. And I ended up with just over 10,000 steps for Friday! Yay! Vagabonds is a DENSE book and switching between reading and listening is helping get through it. Not really sure what the plot is though...but I'm headed to bed. I'm not setting an alarm and will just get up when I get up.

I was late for the Hour 4 sprint so I did it from 11:38pm-12:38am. Posted some hourly photos for Instagram for when I was sleeping. Then I went to bed at 1am!

Half-Point Progress Report
1) How many books have you been reading? Have you finished any? Are you on track with respect to your readathon goals so far? I've only been reading from one book so far and I haven't finished it. Definitely on track for relaxing 👍
2) Have you eaten real food today? (Not just junk food, ACTUAL HEALTHY FOOD) What was your favorite food or beverage so far? I haven't eaten anything *during* the readathon yet since supper was before. Just drank a little bit of water. Because I ate too much at supper. lol. About to have an English Muffin with Crunch Peanut Butter and some OJ!
3) Are you growing sleepy? Do you plan to nap, or stop early, or are you extending the readathon hours to include sleep? I got my full 8 hours of sleep because this preggo needs it!
4) 5 senses check-in- What are you seeing, hearing, tasting, touching and smelling now? Seeing-computer screen. Hearing-Vagabonds audiobook. Tasting-morning breath 🤣. Touching-the keyboard. Smelling-nothing! There are no smells!
5) How is your readathon going, overall? I'm feeling good and I'm ready to switch to another book!

Comments:
I was doing okay for awhile. Read on the front porch. Had some veg & dip. Decided to read on the back deck under the umbrella during the Hour 20 Sprint. That was my downfall. I made it halfway through the sprint when I fell asleep. When my hour timer went off, I went inside and took a nap on the couch from 4-6pm. lol. Wasn't really hungry so I had some sliced veg with salt & pepper and then some Flipz. Did the final sprint. Might be my worst readathon but I can definitely say I relaxed and took it easy. lol. Going to take the doggo for a walk.

Closing Survey
1) How many books did you read during this readathon? Did you have any favorites? Parts of 3. I was the most hooked on The Block Party.
2) How many books did you finish? None. First time ever, I think.
3) Did you accomplish your goals for this readathon? Yes, I stayed relaxed.
4) How did your snacks and meals work out? Are there things you would change about the food and beverages side of your readathon for next time? I was disappointed I wasn't able to eat more. 🤣
5) Did you enjoy this readathon? What was the most successful part of your readathon? What would you change for next time? I always enjoy myself! Most successful part was reading some books I'd had for a few years. I won't change anything for next time because I'll be even more pregnant! lol. But definitely will choose easier books, I think.
6) Will you be continuing your readathon reading past the end of our official readathon? Always!
