Ann A (readerann) | 867 comments It sounds like a lovely day, Elyse! It pays to listen to your body and take things at whatever pace feels right. I'm also hoping to curl up and do more reading today.

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 566 comments That is a great idea! I mostly take a week or so after the readathon to finish up my stack, but I'm pretty sure I have some that got forgotten about.

Susy (susysstories) | 2288 comments Wow, that’s quite some list, Elyse!

message 961: by Elyse (new)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments Poor abandoned books since 2017! lol. Well, technically 2018. I included all the Kingtober/October ones in a separate Google doc with some other spookier ones. 😊

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments I can't believe it's already July, folx! How have I been doing on the above list? Completely forgetting about it is how! lol. I have read Gemina, Obsidio, and Bitch Planet Vol 1 and 2. For SciFiJune, not even remembering/taking into account that they were on the list. lol. But now that I see the list again, I'm going to grab some of these for my July Shrink the Shelf (read physical owned books) TBR! Hope to see you all in the coming weeks and on Readathon day!

I will 100% be taking it easy for this Readathon as I am currently almost 13 weeks pregnant with our miracle baby (12 years trying with 4 years IVF, 2 pregnancy losses, and our last 1-year frozen embryo decided to stick!!) so I'm having a relaxing summer.

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments I haven't really solidified a TBR and I don't think I will. Wherever I end up on Friday night with my current reads and borrows is what I'm reading. I'm doing Shrink the Shelf (read physical books owned before June 2023) on Instagram so I've got a bunch of audiobooks of the physical books I own so I can go back and forth. Now that I'm not working anymore, listening can be hit or miss depending on the day!

I do have these Hoopla audiobooks (that correspond with my physical books) due on Sunday so those are priority for the readathon:
Father of Lions One Man's Remarkable Quest to Save the Mosul Zoo by Louise Callaghan Vagabonds by Hao Jingfang (this is a big one!)
Already read The Future of Another Timeline by Annalee Newitz

Headed to the grocery store today and this pregnancy has me not wanting sweets or chocolate (I'm usually a sweets lover!), haven't had many cravings at all actually. I may or may not make another trip on Friday but will proceed like I'm not.

My readathon starts at 8pm EST and here is the menu:
Supper (pre-readathon)
Pork Sausage Sloppy Joes & Potato Wedges

Drinks
Water, water, water! Hydration is harrrrd during pregnancy! I don't have enough room 80oz water AND food every day! lol
Pepsi (usually let myself have 2 cans of Pepsi a week)
Homemade iced tea (Pregnancy has put me off coffee real good. It's too hot for hot tea and grocery store iced tea is too sweet and has too much garbage in it)

Snacks
Chips & Dip (basically the one thing I've had a craving for! Also nostalgic - summers at Grammy's house with my brothers and cousins)
Crudités
Chex Mix
Cheese & Crackers
Strawberries
Watermelon
Peanut M&M's (a readathon tradition BUT I don't really want them lol. But hubs will eat them if I don't!)

Breakfast
English Muffin with Peanut Butter or Eggo Waffles with OJ & Milk

Lunch
Leftover Sloppy Joes

Supper
Pizza

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 1444 comments Sounds like a great plan for food

I agree pregnancy can cause weirdness. I could not stand "dry" foods like chips and such. I had to avoid eggs. Had huge dairy cravings and gained a lot of weight early when had my son. People even asked if I was having twins >:(

I was young and not nutritionally knowledgeable back then, though, would do things differently now

You sound like you have everything well planned out food wise.

message 996: by Leni (new)

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 566 comments I went off coffee during most of my first pregnancy too. And all deli meats smelled sour and rotten to me. Had to change out the hand soap and shower gel too because my pregnancy brain was convinced that they reeked. Such a weird experience! Fortunately my only craving was red apples. Good of your hubs to help you out with the M&Ms lol

Yes, people can be annoying with that stuff after the baby is born as well.

My former in-laws *shudders* were early risers and early to bed people. His dad had to make a comment with my son that the reason my baby got up a lot during the night was because I stayed up too late when pregnant with him.
