Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments I was hoping for something different each week for pre-readathon challenges and it's not so I won't be participating in the rest. But I'm resurrecting the board game from April 2021 and seeing if I can complete it in the next 3 weeks!

Elyse hi. I opened Long Lap 2 thread. Please post there if you would like.I got thrown in, so I do not always know where to look to help. I know you participate here more than I do, know more things. If I am behind, please let me know on my personal thread here Cynda Reads & Chats Here. I will follow up as best and as soon as I can.

Thanks Cynda. I just thought each week would be a different pre-readathon challenge, like read 1000 pages throughout the week, read for 24 hours throughout the week, etc, not just read as much as you can for 3 weeks.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 282 comments Oh gosh, you tempt me with the board game! I love that game lol but with all the big books I have on the go right now it's not the ideal time for me to play it again. Good luck finishing in 3 weeks!

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 566 comments Oh nice, the board game is so much fun! I have my reading planned out for the month though, as I have a longlist to get through. So a simple "read as much as possible" works for me this time around.

However i promised a friend we'd read The Conference of Birds by Ransom Riggs plus i have an ARC of Savage Bond by J.N. Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments Holy cannoli, the readathon is a week away! I've decided to go super hard on charcuterie and crudités. lol. I have a minor surgical procedure on Monday so I will not be shooting for 24 hours as I have to take it easy for a couple weeks. Staying up 24 hours will not be conducive to that. lol.

I'm also participating in 1,000,000 steps in 100 days (averages to 10,000 steps/day) on Instagram and I'm behind already so I really have to hit my 10k goal on Saturday! Usually readathons are low movability! lol. So far the weather is supposed to be 58F and cloudy so not the greatest but good enough for lots of walking!

I still have no idea what I'm reading though! Definitely something on audio at least! Sometimes I try to avoid audio and sometimes I go audio-hard. It's hard to do the calculations for audio if it's a partial listen and for time because I listen at 1.5x usually so hours listened in audiobook does not equal hours listened in real life. lol

You Shouldn't Have Come Here

5) What are your goals for this readathon?

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2454 comments First check-in of the day and it's almost 6 hours in! lol. I took is easy this morning and I won't be doing my normal quarterly check-ins. Obviously.

Woke up at 7am, showered, got Ezri (doggo reading buddy) all set, had some coffee.
8am, made some tea, I began with Dead End (Fear Street, #29) by R.L. Stine which I'd read 39 pages of last night. I finished it just after the first hour sprint which I participated in.
I then started The Curator by Owen King and people, it's so ODD. I don't know if I like it. I'm 50-ish pages in.
Around 11am, I ate some crudités and then some Pretzel Flipz with more tea and some water.
Started participated in the fourth hour sprint but decided since the rain had stopped, to take Ezri for a walk. I started my audiobook You Shouldn't Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose . It was a brisk, windy, sprinkly walk for about 20 minutes. And here we are! Still listening to the audiobook, about 50 pages in, and I think I'm going to continue with the physical instead of picking The Curator back up, for now. Going to dig into the charcuterie!

I've also been mostly keeping up with the hourly photos on Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/winesaboutbooks! I don't know how to include them here. I should ask Erin...lol

IDK, it's just so unfamiliar that it's hard to get into. It's a fantasy world but set in like Dickensian times so it's old-fashioned. He's throwing a LOT at the reader in the first 50 pages.

YES, Jennifer!! I've only seen them this year so I think they're pretty new. They're so good because they're bigger than the squares on the Caramello bar and just one will satisfy any chocolate craving! 3. Did you accomplish your goals for this readathon?
I didn't make any goals this time. The only goal was to read and I did!
4. How did your snacks and meals work out? Are there things you would change about the food and beverages side of your readathon for next time?
I had a lovely spread and did not eat a single actual meal. lol. Crudités and charcuterie and fruits all day and night.
5. Did you enjoy this readathon? What was the most successful part of your readathon? What would you change for next time?
I did enjoy it but I did spend too much awake time not reading or listening. I was distracted easily this time and I'm not sure why. So hopefully the focus will be better next time.
6. What Dewey's social media sites did you visit during this readathon? What activities did you participate in? Do you plan to complete those activities over the remainder of the weekend?
I was on Goodreads a little and Instagram a lot. I did a couple of sprints, one hourly discussion, and about half of the IG photo challenges.
