I am none too pleased with the randomizer this month but despite my strong dislike of Bellow, I will try to read both.
Also, anyone want to moderate the discussion for either of those two books?

I have never read anything by either author. But I see that both books are fairly long, almost 500p and I will definitely not have time for both of them. Not in November. I'll be scrambling to complete other challenges. I need to think a bit, read some reviews, then I'll pick one.
Like, Leni, I will probably only read one of these due to their length and how much I have going on in November. Neither really interests me, but I will probably go with Humboldt's Gift since it won the Pulitzer Prize. I will also try to read the Labors of Hercules book for that month.
Having the randomizer pick Humboldt´s Gift seems an argument for returning to having the random selection made from those books that get at least one vote. I´ve read it before and Bellow is not my favorite so I won´t be reading it again.I have been wanting to read World´s End and it is on my shelf, so I will read that after Bleak House.
I'll read World's End, and try to get to Bellow. I may have to start early, because it may take a while to get interested...
I have already read Humboldt's Gift so if no-one volunteers I can moderate that one :)
I will aim to read World's End...

This will be my first challenge, very excited :)! I've read Drop City by Boyle, which was just OK. So don't have particularly strong feelings either way about the author. The attraction of World's End for me is that according to the description it takes place practically in my back yard. I will give it a go.
I have never read either author before, so I will give them both a try. I wish they weren't both nearly 500 pages, but oh well. I like big books.
Well that is a disappointing result. I will read World's End on Kindle 'cos that is the only source I can find. My Audible credits keep accumulating because we hardly ever choose something that is available. And I will NOT be re-reading Bellow.

I hope you like this one more! Also check out our October BOTM since we’ll be reading those starting in a few days!

Yes, me too. 500 pages is a lot for both books. I like big books too but it’s nice to have a little variability each month.

I will be reading World's End. I have read Humbold's Gift in past. I like Bellow's and that book but I won't reread as I won't have time to try to read it. Bellow's is not a "speedy" read.
Jen wrote: "I hope you like this one more! Also check out our October BOTM since we’ll be reading those starting in a few days! ."I've read both books and won't have time for a re-read. I picked up The Gormenghast trilogy on recommendation of somebody in this group. So far it's been great. But it is a 1000+ page mammoth and will take me most of October to get through.
I never got around to reading Humboldt's gift the last time, so that will be my November book. I don't have World's end on hand, so that one will have to wait.
I've read Humboldt's Gift when it was a BOTM in January 2013, and didn't care for it. I will not be re-reading it. Will read World's End though. Working through The Roots of Heaven right now.
Humboldt's Gift is an audio book at my local library, so I will probably listen to it. I own World's End, but the last time I tried to read it I couldn't get into it. Maybe this time will be different.
I'm torn. My library has Humboldt's Gift but not World's End. I haven't read any book by either one, but have wanted to read some T.C. Boyle for quite a while.
I can get both at the library - Humboldt’s Gift as audio and World’s End as an ebook. I may try for both. I’m generally not a fan of audio for fiction and especially for anything serious, so that will be an interesting experience.
I had to buy World's End from Ebay as my whole library system doesn't have a copy.
I really enjoyed The Terranauts by TC Boyle so have high hopes for this one.

I haven't read either book, so I may just flip a coin. I don't think I'll be able to read both in the same month!

I had to buy my copy as well...managed to find a cheap copy on Ebay.

On second thought I'll probably pass on the November books. I have too many other books to read by the end of the year. Next year I'll know to plan my reading to include the monthly 1001 books!
I’m probably going to skip both of them here, but continue on with Bleak House, and try to finish out some of my other reading challenge choices for this year.
I doubt I'll come across copies I can afford of either of these books by November, and my library doesn't own either one. I'll stick to Bleak House and start Three Kingdoms when I finish Bleak House. I'm also reading A Suitable Boy(Seth), Silence(Endo), and A Gate at the Stairs(Moore), so I have more than enough 1001 books in my stack for now already.

Those are some heavy tomes you’re sporting.

Do we have any volunteers to facilitate discussion on either of these November BOTM which start tomorrow. Remember, it is 5 points for facilitating a BOTM discussion.
I am going to try to read both Humboldt's Gift and World's End. I was able to get my hands on inexpensive copies of both.
I will be putting up questions for Humboldt’s Gift but it may take a bit to get them posted, be patient with me. I’ve got to read my Chapter a Day of The Silmarillion.
I will be hosting the Worlds End discussion give me a chance to work out schedule :)
