I received an email from Aimee Ann wanting to review my book and while I appreciated the kindness extended to me, it was awfully suspicious. I checked into it and found a couple websites denouncing this person and their falsehoods. The standardized emails that were sent to myself and others are indicative of the scam. I was lucky to have not succumbed to this scam and I hope that this will allow someone else to be as well.

Jennifer S. Alderson (jennifesalderson) | 49 comments Hello, ACX Audible has sent me promo codes for The Lover's Portrait: An Art Mystery! If you are interested in art, history, and mystery, this might be the listen for you.

I have free promo codes for US and UK Audible listeners. If you would like one, please message me here on Goodreads or comment below and I'll get back to you quite soon. Take care!

The Lover's Portrait: An Art Mystery description:

A portrait holds the key to recovering a cache of looted artwork, secreted away during World War II, in this captivating historical art thriller set in the 1940s and present-day Amsterdam.

When a Dutch art dealer hides the stock from his gallery – rather than turn it over to his Nazi blackmailer – he pays with his life, leaving a treasure trove of modern masterpieces buried somewhere in Amsterdam, presumably lost forever. That is, until American art history student Zelda Richardson sticks her nose in.

After studying for a year in the Netherlands, Zelda scores an internship at the prestigious Amsterdam Historical Museum, where she works on an exhibition of paintings and sculptures once stolen by the Nazis, lying unclaimed in Dutch museum depots almost seventy years later.

When two women claim the same painting, the portrait of a young girl entitled Irises, Zelda is tasked with investigating the painting’s history and soon finds evidence that one of the two women must be lying about her past. Before she can figure out which one it is and why, Zelda learns about the Dutch art dealer’s concealed collection. And that Irises is the key to finding it.

Her discoveries make her a target of someone willing to steal – and even kill – to find the missing paintings. As the list of suspects grows, Zelda realizes she has to track down the lost collection and unmask a killer if she wants to survive.

Michael Ward | 1 comments Hi everyone,

Would you like to review my debut novel "Rags of Time"?

It's a historical murder mystery set in 17th century London on the eve of the English Civil War. Early UK reviews have been 5*. One described it as 'a fascinating book for detective story-addicts and lovers of historical fiction'.

I'm hoping some US readers will take a look, as "Rags' gives a real insight into the religious/political turmoil that caused many Puritans to sail for the New World.

You can find it at Amazon US and UK. Kindle Unlimited version is free.

Set mostly in Greece during the recent economic and social crises of 2012, a pastor searches for a missing Albanian member of his church in Athens as anti-austerity riots explode. With the help of two incompatible friends, Mehmed, a reformed ex-criminal, and Luan, a secret service agent, Pastor Jude sets off in Luan’s uncle’s Mercedes. Can they locate him and bring him back home to his family?

Currently giving my new short mystery free on Bookfunnel. You don't have to join my mailing list to get it, but the option is there if you want to keep informed on my writing.

My goal is to introduce you to my series.

https://dl.bookfunnel.com/tdcrvyg00c

"The P.I. Who Met A Ghost" Description

P.I. Billie Bly is hired to investigate a haunted house producing screams and entities of dancing light her client thinks are ghosts.

Billie reluctantly takes the case because her client is paying her double her rate. It would be easy to chalk up the ghosts to her client's overactive imagination and the fact that a haunted house fundraiser is being held the week of Halloween.

When she sees things she can't explain, she is sure someone is plotting to scare people away from the house. The problem is, she can't figure out how and why they are doing it.

Each step she takes plunges her deeper into danger and the thing that scares her most may be her saving grace.

Mauryn Wahu | 2 comments I write sponsored book reviews, and I don't intend to scurry away in shame because I am providing a much needed marketing service.

I think Aimee Ann should have been upfront about her charges. It's perfectly justified to charge for a review, especially one posted on a platform with many followers.

No-one should work for free just because you think your book is a gift to the universe. 😏

If you turn your nose up at paid blog features only to purchase a kirkus review and possibly even Amazon ads, then the joke is on you.

It's on Kindle Unlimited on the link below if you want to have a look and think it's worth reviewing (hope so!) .

"Beach Lover: A sexy short story thriller with suspense, twists, turns, murder and mystery (Run, Girl, Run! Book 1). Sun. Sea. Sand. Murder. Mystery. Suspense." ... says the blurb. So, er, not very Christmassy then.

I would love some reviews of my first novel available on Amazon.

Here's a quick overview-
Against the backdrop of the Berlin Wall and Russia’s resurgence following the collapse of the Soviet Empire, we witness the rise of Simon Montfort’s career to a senior diplomat position at the US Embassy in Paris. As Simon’s career develops, one of his oldest friends recruits him as a spy for the CIA. He agrees to help the CIA gather ‘intel’ on Russia’s expansionist plans and assist the Agency to undermine the Kremlin leadership in Moscow. Simon creates a network of agents in Budapest, Istanbul, Moscow, Vienna, Sofia and other East European cities.
After several years of success where his network has employed cunning surveillance techniques to weaken the security of the Russian President, Simon is suddenly plunged into a many-sided struggle – the election of a nationalistic, pro-Russian and extremely religious government in the USA, the subtle threats from a former lover, the powerful forces of a new expansionist Russian empire and the loving expectations of his loyal family – they all conspire to test his ability and his allegiances. His moral code is at stake. Be prepared for clever illusion and cold-hearted treachery.

Martin Hill (martinroyhill) | 27 comments My third Peter Brandt mystery thriller, The Fourth Rising, will be released May 10. I am offering free advance reading copies to anyone willing to give it a fair and honest review.

From the cover copy:

"On May 8, 1945, WWII in Europe ended with Germany’s surrender. But did the Nazi Party itself surrender? Some say no.

1943: A German ship moors in a clandestine anchorage in western Mexico with a cargo of gold intended to bribe the Mexican government into declaring war on the United States. When the attempt fails, the German vessel flees leaving its gold buried somewhere along the coast of the Sea of Cortés.

1997: The horrific murder of an old flame’s husband sets former war correspondent Peter Brandt on the hunt for the hidden Nazi treasure. The search takes him down a bloody trail leading from the drug cartels of Mexico to a neo-Nazi training camp in the Southern California mountains. Along the way, he unearths a decades-long Nazi conspiracy to create a new Fourth Reich and continue the Nazi Party’s plan for world domination.

Inspired by true historical events, and recent research suggesting the Nazi Party survived the German surrender, The Fourth Rising is the latest in the Peter Brandt adventures which include Empty Places and The Last Refuge."

I can provide ARC as Kindle, EPub, or PDF versions.

Please contact me via direct message if you are interested.

R.A. Niles (raniles) | 14 comments My new book China basin, the second of the Andrew Johnson series, is available for a free preview. It's not yet available on Amazon, but I have free Kindle or epub versions available. Contact me if interested.

In June of 1950 on a cold foggy morning, the corpse of Carlo Steffano rolls out of a cargo net on a San Francisco pier. As San Francisco Police Inspector Andrew Johnson looks down at the body he senses only that Steffano had it coming. “A vortex of corruption, dirty money and underworld scum—a bottom feeder of easy money.”

China Basin, the second of the series, told in first person from the voice of Johnson, combines a noir mystery/suspense thriller with historical events in the rise of Communist China and the simmering pot of conflict in Southeast Asia.

Johnson’s quest takes him into a Chinatown underground tunnel, an at-sea heroin shipment transfer and into the depths of an opium den, brothel and operations base of a Tong crime syndicate.

“A thrilling tale of crime and political intrigue, as intellectually astute as it’s dramatically exciting”
-Kirkus Reviews

“Historical events bear directly on the events in this book and consequently, make it an addictive edge-of-the-seat thriller.”

-Readers Favorite

Robert Dunn | 56 comments Joseph: I have reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, all the way from 1 star to 5 stars. I read them. Did they help sales? No. One reviewer said I had poorly constructed sentences. Ha! I worked with 5 editors. The other reviews were fair. A recommendation was that I should not respond to reviews - I did, once, to a negative review, saying I would consider his remarks when writing the next novel. I worked as a professional writer for 12 years and as a newspaper correspondent briefly. I got used to criticism - in fact, I wanted it, so I could improve my writing skills. I accepted probably 95% of the developmental edits of the novel. I recommend WordMule.com for editing. Bob
