SOLVED. Science Fiction book with sentient space ships at war. [s]

My husband read a book that I would like to read. He thinks the title is "Light" but I do not see a book with that title (or part of the title) fitting his description.

The book is in a world with (semi-?)sentient space ships. The main character ship is slightly more sentient or smarter than others. There is fighting between ships, but humans aren't really apart of the fighting, it all happens super quickly between the ships themselves digitally. and there is very long range weapon firing that crews will know days in advance will hit them, but they can't get out of the way fast enough.
