"Cause there's this tune I found that makes me think of you somehow
When I play it on repeat
Until I fall asleep
Spilling drinks on my settee"

:D I still love that album

I was listening to it this morning and I very much wanted to have an alcoholic beverage because of this song

I totally understand. I was daydreaming a number of times about Arabella :D

Samir (royceblackwater) | 842 comments Btw. If you haven't already, check out their cover of Drake's Hold on, we're going home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvA3q...

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Yeah I suck at this game as well maybe I'm not musically enlightened enough to know them but anyway here's my tune if you can figure it out and hopefully not look at me weirdly when you see it

"All waiting for the light
have fear, fear not
the sun shines out of my eyes
she will not go down tonight

... and the world counts loud to ten"

Well that was great!

I love the singers swagger, such a better version than Drakes :D

They should claim the song :D

I bet you didn't hear this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RZDF.... This is the last one. I promise :D

"A..."

It's weird seeing it in English. I'll let other people play so I won't name the song. :)

Loved that one even more!

I think we may be twins as far as musical taste goes!

I feel like I need to mention the time we were at a Xmas party and the only music was a two-man band with just a guitar and a harp (yes, I said harp) that played 90% Drake songs. Possibly the worst party entertainment ever

message 13: by Samir (new)

Samir (royceblackwater) | 842 comments Was the harp player wearing angel wings?

Not that they're identical bands but I often find myself confusing what is by the Arctic Monkeys and The White Stripes. Love 'em both.

I don't listen to enough music to be any good at this... and about half the time I do there ARE no lyrics... Lindsey Stirling, David Garrett, a bunch of string quartets, etc...

Anyway... at least my unwritten theory that Margret's tune came from a British band proved true... sounded like my grandma talking about settees instead of couches...

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments I have very majorly eccentric taste in music. Most people are shocked by the genres of music I enjoy because it doesn't line up with my personality at all haha.

I find it funny that I like(d?) Dubstep... 10 years ago I found the genre annoying... turns out I just found the way DJs TALKED about Dubstep music annoying... I haven't listened to it nearly as much the last coupe years tho...

I mostly listen to Dubstep, Indie stuff like Tegan & Sara and Amanda Palmer, "oldies" from 80s that I'm sure everyone knows and I heard a lot as a kid, and the instrumental stuff I mentioned before... that stuff isn't just violins like I mentioned before, tho... I also listen to Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Ronald Jenkees, and movie soundtracks from James Bond and Batman/etc... all of this is on Pandora...

About the only time I listen to anything, tho, is when I'm reading on my kindle... otherwise my listening time is dominated with audiobooks...

I like classic rock, modern rock, some grunge (but not a ton), and most of all thrash metal

I like Metallica, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, CCR, Heart (most amazing band live I swear, Lynyrd Skynrd, the Doors, Pink Floyd (have to be in the right mood for them), Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood, Nirvana, Alexisonfire, City and Color, Tool... really the list goes on and on

Hardcore hippy parents lol

Hyde from That 70's Show I swear was based on my Dad. He literally had the exact same glasses, same hair, and even had the same t shirt he was wearing on the show lol!

And he smoked a lot of weed

message 26: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments I don't have a lot of music to listen to since I enjoy the instrumental stuff a lot more (I listen to soundtracks from games/movies as well) rather than specific bands I'm more geared to music that I like rather than bands

My dad loves music more than me since he's a fan of the classical stuff as well as music that was in his time and I'm very secretive to what I listen to because of that in a way as well as being shy to do so

message 27: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35351 comments Mod
Similar to Ahdam here... I also don't want to be thrusting my music on people the way some of my coworkers do... working nights we get to blare music... and basically everyone has a stereo... I use earbuds and mostly listen to books and the occasional podcast...

But there's this one coworker everyone complains about that blasts various asian pop and anime songs on a loop... I've heard them so many times I recognize them and pieces can get stuck in my head outside of work...

message 28: by Margret, Caladan Brood Face (new)

Margret | 3168 comments Mod
Nobody likes to have music enforced on them really. We put Spotify on in our lab where we run blood we draw in the ICU but keep it just on pop or 90's music or something similar being that we have a range of people from their early 20's all the way up to nearing retirement

message 29: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Yea... 80-90s music is that sweet spot that everyone is familiar with, I think... either you listened to it, or your parents did...

My mother is quite open to new music, she really likes the modern rock genre ie/ Arctic Monkeys etc. she's a very cool, very spunky woman. As for my Dad, he was planted a little firmer in his preferences for classic rock but passed away quite a while ago so who knows what he would like today.

I mostly like 90's alternative through todays. I will at different times listen to country, blues, rap, classical..........

With classic rock I heard it so much growing up I started to hate most of it for a really long time. Because I've fought tooth and nail to ignore it for most of the last 20 years I finally find I can listen to some of it again. Not that I will ever seek it out but when it comes on the radio I don't change the channel at epic speed like I used to. There's some exceptions. I'll never grow tired of Pink Floyd and conversely The Doors are forever ruined for me.

I've found that Pearl Jam has entered that classic rock genre for me and I simply cannot listen to them any longer. The people who follow them around like the Grateful Dead and think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread have driven me away. I always prefered STP, AIC, Nirvana and other grunge bands anyway. I'm pretty burnt on Green Day as well but Dookie is still a great album.

Completely burnt on Guns and Roses as well but still love Jane's Addiction. I saw both in small clubs when they were nobodies back in circa 1987.

If it's a mixed crowd I find 90's pop punk/alt like Blink 182, Better than Ezra, Third Eye Blind and bands like that are easy to put on and I still enjoy listening to them.

I feel the same way about Pearl Jam and GNR! Especially because Axl Rose and his attitude, but I actually think there's a lot more mental health issues at play there so I can't judge too much. I was actually super shocked that they made it through a whole tour this year

I like this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SeRU...

Started listening to his stuff the last year or 2...

Earlier this year, one of my older coworkers stopped listening to country for awhile and started listening to real oldies from the 50s and 60s... and this would come on sometimes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNb-8...

I had to look it up on my phone to figure out what was going on... this is also the song in the end credits to The Handmaid's Tale...

I'm cringing right now when I used to listen to Tokyo ghoul opening song and I feel like it was a dark time for me then when I was just too emo for myself blech

However there are some good songs I really enjoy listening to that are from anime such as your lie in april which has a lot of piano music and some emotional scores which makes it the best anime I've ever watched.

There's a song called "My Name is Human" by Highly Suspect like that where the lyrics go:

The bigger the river, the bigger the drought..

But someone said it sounds like "The bigger the river, the bigger the trout" and that's how I hear it now

In that link I posted, there's a misheard lyric in Bohemian Rhapsody... but I've always heard fandango correctly... at least in the past decade... probably because of the movie ticket website you always hear about in the theatre commercials...
