Oh my bad, how gauche of me… introductions all round…
There were two Melissas who used to be active in this group, this one right here and another who has her handle as Melissa the Dog/Wolf Lover. I don’t know either of their surnames. Which is why I sometimes took to calling our gal here Sendai (I have stopped now) because referring to her as *Melissa the One who isn’t the Dog/Wolf Lover but who no doubt also likes dogs, wolves, dragons, Sha and MM romance and writes smegaroon tastie BR posts* is a bit of a mouthful sometimes…
Even though I am known for the extreme brevity of my posts…*flexes*
There are also two Christophers. Chris Murphy (which were called The Murf) likes video games and last I heard is putting up new bookshelves (lucky man!), getting back to music en famille, and reading Nevernight. Mostly, the Murf goes off and does his thing and I never disturb him until he feels like heaving to for a chat, mostly out of the blue (privately I him the Red October) and always a great surprise…but I think he was just feels charitable or clearing his inbox and got bored or something. The Lannister came from an old profile pic since this Chris have a surname that were spelled differently but is pronounced Holt like BOLT and he likes whiskey, bacon, grimdark, Lightspeed Magazine, lives a mile from work and does chores en famille. When it comes to reading Abercrombie we somehow fell into a package deal since we wind it around all our other reads and fell behind all the faster readers. I don’t know why the Lannister stuck when Chris M. stopped being active in the group. I think by now I feel like a relapse will be betraying Mother Grimdark.
PS – there are also two Lauras: Tenfingers and the Dragonchild…

Weak Shmeak...
As long as you're having fun.......it's in the Declaration of Independence, dammit.
Life, Liberty and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS...

No worries! Not sure I entirely understood your explanation of the Chris peeps, but I am aware of the Melissa's (see a few of my friends liking the dog/wolf lover's reviews) and aware of both Laura's.

I have created a page breakdown of Sarum and a tentative schedule if you want to check it out.
I have posted it on my buddy read tracker in message 292 so I can easily access it to edit it if necessary.

:D

That's reassuring! Lol :p
Btw, I just read Gunlaw by Mark Lawrence before The Heroes and it reminded me of everything I love about The Broken Empire, but it's a damn stand alone so far and now I need more of the same, so I have decided that I am IN for the BR lol. Let's be honest, who was I kidding?! Haha. And I'll also read Road Brothers with you guys, cos I haven't read that yet.

And while you're here Laura (soz to hijack your thread a little Zaara) I'm up for making the year a grimdark one too, I need to purge/cleanse all this 2 star shit and YA from me, so I'd be interested in choosing a few others from that grimdark list. I know you've signed up for a lot already and do read faster than me, so I'll be happy to set up BRs as and when we fancy them, I'm really not a planner lol.
Do you fancy doing Heroes Die in the new year? You got anything booked?

Yes!!! Let's do it!!!
I'm up for Heroes Die in the New Year. I've got a couple of books now and then nothing until Feb (Steel Remains and Jorg reread).
Maybe I'll brush the dust off my BR tracker and we can plan some more grimdark for 2022!
EDIT: I updated my br tracker and have listed some grimdark off that list that I've got my eye on if anyone's interested

I could maybe do a reread on the Lawrence series as I have those on audio and do seem to make (better) progress on that than on print reading...

I'm definitely up for continuing, though we haven't discussed it (yet)

Sorry for the late response, Laura and thanks for helping, Chris, I'm in too. Just not immediately...I have some big books in Jan...

To be honest, I think it’s the art style more than anything that’s cute but considering flashback Jorg is barely nine years old at the start of the series and not much older when it ends…aaaw come on… still don’t like lil Jorgy, huh? Not even after all he went thru? Don’t you think when Aristotle said the makings of the greatest tragedies are pity and terror, he meant more pity than terror? Like 98%?? What can I say that will convince you?
:D
I’m listening to (one of) the Jorg theme songs as I type:

Oh Zara, how I’ve missed your long careening cascades of banter. :D
“Updation” indeed. 😁
I have the same problem with books on my TBR that are 20 years old, or something a younger version of myself was interested in, but no longer. That’s mostly the reason why I have my list of Interested Titles in my tracker. If someone suggests one of those, I’m more likely to stop what I’m doing and pick it up.
After BR-failing Red Rising last summer, I still haven’t read it, so I’ll try to jump on it with you guys.
