The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson
I read this (BEGGED MY MOM, begged and pleaded because EVERYONE was reading it) when it first came out a loooooooong time ago :) and I swear I didn't sleep for a month or maybe a year. I have never ventured to pick it up again....maybe it's time after 39 years. I was 13 when I read this. I vowed to never read a scary book again....

I will be reading this in October. Hope others will join me!!

Thanks so much for your suggestion Becca! :)
Unfortunately, the amount of pages will probably be too high to fit into one month :(
I will keep a max of +/- 450 pages in mind. I know the BOTM of August (Strange the Dreamer) had more than 500 pages, but participants had trouble with keeping up.
Maybe you could suggest it for a buddy read though? :)

Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt

Yayy! Did you know the author is Dutch and wrote a Dutch version as well as an American version? The Dutch version is set in a Dutch place and the American version is set in an American place, to let each reader engage more with the story and make it feel more realistic :)
(So I'm also kind of avoiding the Dutch version, cause I don't really want it to feel tooo scary xD)

I did know that it is written by a Dutch author and was translated! I didn't know that when it was translated that the setting was changed to be in an American place. But that makes sense now that you say that!
And haha I see why you'd want to avoid the original. I feel like it would be scarier.
Hi everyone! Since there have only been four books suggested (I usually choose six for the poll which will be created tomorrow), would you like me to add two more popular/new released horror books? Let me know! 😊
Ayla, I was actually thinking about suggesting more spooky reads because I have a lot XD You don't have to pick all of them but these are some that I'm interested in:
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis
The Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepherd
Ultimate Sacrifice by S.E. Green
There are probably more but this is all I can think of XD

Isn't that one more like a mystery/thriller than a horror/spooky novel?

@Darcy - You mean "IT" by Stephen King? xD I'm afraid it would be way too much pages to fit into 25 days and not everyone will be able to keep up 🙈
@Darcy - Everyone in our school is talking about the movie! 😂 There was even a guy who stole my friend's yellow rainjacket and held a red balloon to make it look like that character from IT 😂

That's indeed more of a mystery/thriller... Sorry, but I'm afraid it's not spooky enough to add it to the list.
You could always suggest it as a buddy read though! :)

Here you can suggest a book you'd like to read for the BOTM readalong (+ discussion) of October :)
- The theme/genre for this month will be "horror/spooky". The book you suggest has to be a book that is a horror/spooky book :)
Need some inspiration? Take a look here: https://www.goodreads.com/genres/horror
- You can suggest one book.
- The book can be the first book of a series or a standalone.
- This thread will close the 27th of September, so you have still 3 days to vote on the poll.
- A poll will be created the 27th of September, including 6 of your suggested books with the most recommendations and the highest average ratings on GoodReads.
- The poll will close the 30th of September and the BOTM October will be announced :)
Books suggested until now:
You can also recommend one of these books (in case you aren't the one who requested it). This will increase its chances to end up in the poll, which will include 6 books :)
