I'm a little confused. You posted a link to the rules, but those rules are why I came to you in the first place. It says, "Books already in the database often already have page numbers, and these are occasionally incorrect. These can be corrected, but only if you have the exact book with a matching ISBN . . . " So it looks like this should be easy enough to be fixed.
As I said, I am holding the book. The back cover lists the ISBN. The last numbered page--Arabic numerals, naturally--lists the last page number as "224." You brought up the issue of Roman numeraled pages, ads, and promo pages, but I'm not sure why that's relevant, since none of that exists here. This is all regular text, with plain numbers up to 224. The book's content ends on 222, Image Credits on 223, and Contributors on 224. And don't apologize, good grief, you're just doing your job. :) You needed to ascertain that these are the correct numberings and not extraneous book matter, but that isn't "persnickety"--that's just being careful. Nothing wrong with that.
Obviously, this mistake existed long before this ever came to Goodreads. I took the liberty of checking Augsberg Fortress' site, and while it does list 192 pages, it also gives the option to view the table of contents, whose numbers extend well beyond 192. The error is unsettling, but at least it's self-evident; the Augsberg Fortress site contradicts itself. I don't know where Amazon is getting its number, but I suppose it doesn't matter.
What matters is that I have the book, right here, with the above-mentioned ISBN and page numbers. Now, if there is a technical issue that prevents your changing it based on a user comment, let me know. Do I need to give proof? Should I send a picture of the book's last page? Let me know if there's something I need to do on this end to help the process.
