Good morning all I hope you enjoy your Sunday and the first week of our discussion of Lie to Me

Spoiler Alert
Please remember if you’ve read beyond the schedule be careful of spoilers.
I’ll put up a thread at the beginning of next week that is spoiler friendly.

Also please remember this is just a guide it’s your discussion too so if you want to chat about something that’s not here, something that bothered you or something you just want to get off your chest, don’t hesitate to say so.

Questions for week one Prologue through page 141 (A Video is Worth a Thousand Words)

What were you thinking when you finished reading the Prologue?

Let’s talk about the characters
Who do you like?
Who can’t you stand?

Do you like the two timelines?
Why or why not?

Did you stop where you were supposed to?

I’ll have some more questions mid-week

1. Wow! After the prologue, I knew right away we were in for quite a ride! I felt like the person described was someone straight off the ID channel!

2. I really like Holly Graham. So far she seems to be doing all the right things and I also like Sergeant Moreno for giving her a chance. But as for everybody else.....I'm not so sure I trust anybody at this point!

3. I think the two timelines work well for this book. We gradually get to piece it all together, and the short chapters keep it rolling and make it extremely hard to put down.

4. Yes, but it was tough to do!!! I'll try to wait and pick it back up after I hear what you guys thought.

Ang from OZ | 1690 comments 1. Right from the Prologue I knew I was going to love it! Let the games begin!

2. I haven't really got a huge dislike or like or anyone in particular yet. I am somewhat disliking Sutton, just a feeling in my gut.... but I'm not sure why yet!

3. I think the two timelines are helping with the suspense of the book, and the overall thrill of finding out what has happened and where is the story going... It is keeping the reader on their toe's.
I particularly liked the paragraph

"It's hard, keeping up this facade for everyone. You know I like the fighting, don't you? You're putting it together, I know you are."

At this point in the story I thought to myself, well no I'm not putting it together, I have no idea what's going on.... :)

Also of interest is the marble in the kitchen... how did the blood stain get there???

4. Oh my GOD, did I stop where I was supposed to! I read one more page, cause I'm a rebel like that, lol! :) I keep going to pick up the book again, and then scold myself and put it back down again.

On a side note, I wish I had of ordered the print book, I really do hate making annotations on my ereader, give me my colour sticky notes any day!!

Like you, Ang, I'm still wondering what is really going on! Also, I'm curious about that blood stain too!

I like Holly too TarHeelGirl

Not only was it tough to stop but I was so engrossed in the story that number one I hadn't realized how much time had passed while I was reading and number two I had to force myself to stop. :)

April (april_h) | 159 comments Sorry I'm so late. Had a really busy week and just finished reading the first section. I'm loving this book and staying up way later then I should, so I should be posting earlier next time!

I love the beginning! I wanted to know everything about this person and how they got to this point.

I'm not sure I really like or dislike anyone right now. I'm still trying to give them all the benefit of the doubt. I more feel like I can't trust anyone at this point and my guard is constantly up.

I love the two time lines. Piecing the story together slowly like this is half the fun.

I did stop at the first section only because I was already behind. ;) After I finish posting this, I'm immediately going to read the next section.

Thanks for taking time out of your very busy schedule April. I saw the girls first day of school pics they are getting so big!

I felt the same way about the beginning

I'm off to read part two right now too!

Now I'll answer the questions

When I finished the prologue I wanted to know who this mystery person was.

The characters are so rich and varied
I can't stand Sutton's mom and Sutton's friends are starting to show their real selves so I have no idea at this point.
And Ethan is also an enigma at this point, he sounds genuine but their marriage is really strange.

I too like the dual timelines I think it helps delineate what happened when

Great discussion!!
