Amanda (manka23) | 17 comments I want to start a book review blog and I have little experience with creating websites. Which platform do you prefer? Wordpress of blogspot? And why? I would really appreciate some feedback.

Zach (zach_baynes) | 3 comments Wordpress gives you better control over your theme. Blogspot is probably easier, but looks worse in my opinion.

54% of the websites in the world are on Wordpress, it's simple to use, loads of free themes and you will set it up in a couple of hours.

I think it's called Wix or something similar. You might want to do a search for it. I remember it was very easy for a complete tech idiot like me...

Katrina Shawver (katrinashawver) | 3 comments I have a couple of ideas. Regardless of which platform, secure/buy your domain name now, e.g. Yourname.com.
I began on Blogger - and it was a great way to start. Also - Google will automatically post your blogs to your Google+ account, and rank you higher in Google searches if you're using their platform. It's free as long as you don't mind the .blogspot.com after your blog name. A year later I switched to WordPress and I paid someone to migrate my data and build a more professional site. I'd learned so much on Blogger, Wordpress has been easy to maintain.
Good luck!

I'm confused a bit by your post. Is blogger the same thing as blogspot? Also if you buy a domain does it still have blogspot in the website name? And another thing, would I be able to sell advertising eventually if I were to go with one of these free platforms? Overall I am not completely sure which one you seem to think is the best. About how much is it to buy a domain?
