Bob Foring | 1 comments I know there was already a post about this, but what I'm looking for is a little different. The aspect that I like about the series is Reacher's deductions and observations - I like how he can infer much more about a situation than meets the eye.

I was wondering if anyone knows any other series that are similar in that manner, i.e. a lone, observant, intelligent, street-smart individual who solves problems wherever he goes. I know that many people recommend Vince Flynn or Brian Haig, but I'm more interested in Reacher's deductive abilities than from the fighting. Let me know if you think of anything, I'm open to trying anything!

Betsy Hetzel | 52 comments Bob, One of the best deductive detectives, in my opinion, is Jo Nesbo's Harry Hole. Although Harry is clearly a flawed character, an alcoholic, his Sherlock Holmes powers of reasoning blow my mind. The series is wonderful but it involves serial killers/killing, just so you know, and you come to respect Harry in spite of his flaws because he does have a "beautiful mind". He is NOT a Reacher in any other way , but he does fit your criteria. Hope this helps.

Corey Nelson (coreynelson) | 5 comments Any other “Jack Reacher” books recently that one can recommend? I love the Reacher character for his strong sense of ethics between right and wrong. Yea, I know he violates that violence. But while he does not usually seek trouble, he does not ignore a problem. And I love how he will always be a detective. Any thing like that elsewhere?

I liked the Jonathan Maberry, Joe Ledger books and I really like them in audible as well as book. Good narrator.

The books by David Rosenfelt are good like that, he's a reluctant attorney with a dog he talks to "Tara" they are funny and he is really good at deducting. Enjoyable reads
