I am currently reading "Murder in the Smithsonian" by Margaret Truman (ISBN: 9780877954750). The corresponding Goodreads page claims there are 298 pages but the book in my hand has only 221.

Dawn, are you sure you have the 1983 hardcover edition with that ISBN? Cause WorldCat shows 298 pgs as well.
That's the number listed in the book I have in my hands. I have to assume it's correct, but it is a library book, so maybe they have it incorrect somehow? It's definitely 1983 hardcover. Is there another edition that has 221 pages? Because that part I am certain is correct since that is the final page of the book. When I looked on Goodreads, I didn't see anything listed with that number of pages. Hmmm...
Upon further investigation, I see that there are several editions (not on Goodreads) that have 221 pages, and, curiously, *no* ISBN at all. Apparently, my library just added one from another edition? I will head over to the page for this book and add an edition that fits what I have. =)
Dawn, checking WorldCat again, they have 2 1983 editions with 221 pgs, both published by Arbor House books, neither have ISBNs. That is not unusual because ISBNs were only just becoming standard about then.What cover does your book have?
It has the one that looks like the one shown for the ISBN I originally referenced (black background with gold and coral skyline). I have already added the edition I have in my hand, and I see that it is showing, now as an option on Goodreads.
