Jarek | 2 comments Hello everyone,

Would appreciate any help in finding the title of this book series. I read it about 15 years ago. It is a fantasy book about a boy that had humble beginnings but learns how to imbue items he crafts with magical powers. I believe magic in this world was not very prevalent and the amount of magical items he created was limited. I am sure one of the items was a helm that allowed the wearer to fly.
The book included a lot of details about the actual crafting process, his notes etc. Eventually, he did have adventures where he got to use the various items but there is not much more I can remember. I think there was also some form of cost that came with the crafting of each of those items. I have been looking for this series for a while, would love to read it again. I read it in Polish but I am pretty certain it was a translation and the original should have been in English.
If anyone knows the books I mean I would greatly appreciate it. It is definitely a series, at least 3 books maybe more.

Michele | 279 comments Maybe Michael Scott Rohan's Winter of the World series? 1st book is Anvil of Ice. It's been a long time so I'm not sure about a helm, but he does forge some magic items, and I think there is a lot about all the blacksmithing processes.
