::stalks Veronica's owned book list::

I see so many good titles on there!! How do you not stare at your collection for like 2 hours every time you need a new book? Lol

Good luck!! :)

Thanks, Niki. I just wish GR numbered other shelves the way it automatically numbers the "To Read" shelf. I'm always shuffling that one around so that I keep my top 15 (used to be 10) most anticipated books.

Cool - I didn't even know you could rearrange that one. Good to know haha. Yeah that would make my list easier to manage too if it let it do that for all shelves.

Bill | 2150 comments When you in the particular list in my books you click Batch Edit --> Enable Sorting.

That will let you sort by number.

Bill, you are a genius! Woohoo! I'm off to play with my own-it shelf.

You can also click edit shelves from your bookshelves page at the top of your shelf list... pulls up a list page and you can enable sorting of as many shelves as you want... make more shelves exclusive if you want to break your To-Read list into multiple shelves by genre like I did, and disable recommendations if you have an abandoned series shelf...

message 8: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments I knew about editing shelves but I do like the idea of an abandoned series shelf. Hmmmm....

They were both quick reads, Niki. :-)

Two more to go.

Nice!! You should get extra credit for that or something haha. I'm looking forward to hearing how the two methods together work out for you. I tried something similar at first, but need to get my incomplete series under control before it could be really effective for me.

message 17: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments It'll be a trial and error thing, I'm sure, lol. I'll see how it goes and tweak it as needed.

Thanks, Jenna. This is my pattern though...I start out strong and then run out of gas mid-race or else get distracted by commotion in the stands. lol

Me too... the first half of a challenge generally happens incidentally... the back half and especially the last few tend to take effort to complete

message 21: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments We should form a support group for challenge losers, lol.

That's why I joined the easiest challenge ever over at PNR & UF: September Challenge: Read 10 books from 10 different series

message 23: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments That IS an easy one!

Hopefully this Team Challenge thing they're putting together here for 2018 will help us hide our deficiencies...

LOL!

message 26: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments Finished Troubled Waters and I'm only about 100 pages from my sixth book so have almost earned my first new book credit. The problem is there are several new books I'd like to buy, too many!

Niki Hawkes - The Obsessive Bookseller | 7639 comments Mod
Great job!!! Whatever you pick is going to be certain it earned it's spot on your shelves, that's for sure. :)

message 28: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments Thanks, Niki. Maybe I'll let my eight year old randomly pick my new book from a list. I just can't decide.

Meanwhile, I need to compile the list of my next six already owned books to read.

message 29: by Liam (new)

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments Great job Veronica =].

Totally understand the need to buy new books haha. I keep seeing books that I want to read and I can't get them =[.

message 30: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments Thanks, Liam. Yes, it's going to a be a test of my willpower to see if I can hold myself to just the one new book. Book addiction is real! lol

message 31: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments I've totally failed so far in keeping to this challenge. I started out well, read my six owned books but when it came to limiting myself to one new book...FAIL. I purchased: Valor, Homicide for the Holidays, The Summer Tree, The Wandering Fire, The Darkest Road.

Also, The Unbearable Lightness of Dragons, Love in the Time of Dragons, The Curse of the Mistwraith, Fugitive Prince, Grand Conspiracy, The Miniaturist. In my defense though, these were all purchased when my library had its semi-annual sale. Paperbacks for 50 cents and HC for $1. I couldn't pass that up.

I'll try to get back on the no-new-book-buying wagon. :-)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments Works for me!

message 36: by Veronica (new)

See? It is like you didn't buy it. ;)

message 38: by Timelord Iain, Tech Support (new)

Timelord Iain | 35273 comments Mod
So, you're doing a 1 to 2 Challenge? Only buy 2 books for every 1 you read? :D

message 39: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments It could be worse!

message 40: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments I'm going to have to jump the gun just a tad on buying my new book. I only have one more owned book to read left in my second round but I can't read that one until next month or else it won't count for another challenge. But Oathbringer is out tomorrow and there's no way I'm waiting a month to buy and read it. :-)

message 41: by Miche (new)

Miche | 3279 comments Seems fair to me, Veronica! :)

No way I could blame you for buying Oathbringer. Especially when I bought that book in three different formats! lol

message 46: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments Well, I haven't gone that far. Yet. ;-)

I have TWoK and WoR in mmp format but I'm getting this one in HC. I hate having mismatched sets on my shelf. I also hate it when a long running series changes its cover design mid-series. It messes with my mind.

message 47: by Miche (new)

Miche | 3279 comments I normally don't buy hardcovers, but I did an exception for this one. With the art included in it, it is worth to have the nice book. :)

message 48: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments Definitely. The art is amazing.
