I can be a bit OCD once I focus on something, Kevin. Especially books. :)

Looks as it I will have to get my copy out soon too :)

I just picked up Travels with Charley and The Miniaturist at the library. I looked at the "illustrated" version of Charley at my local bookstore but it only contained a map on the endpapers - nice but I decided not to buy it. While at the bookstore I picked up a Young Adult book Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universeby Benjamin Alire Sáenz and a lovely picture bookAt the Same Moment, Around the World which is perfect for my Social Studies Methods course.Today I picked up the audiobook Loving Frank a kindle daily deal My Sister's Grave.
Just picked up Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West, ebook plus audible narration, the both for the price of a cup of coffee on Kindle Daily Deals. Very pleased as I've wanted to read this for a long time. I think Seraphina reminded me of it a while back.
Emma wrote: "I'm about to start The Undertaking Barbara. It's my in person bookclub book this month. It's also the Irish Times bookclub book this month. They have a couple of interesting articles."It was seeing it was the Irish Times pick that puts it on my list. I couldn't remember why it was in my Kenny's basket.
And I just ordered 4 more books:
Stones in my Pocket and A Night in November - Maire Jones (Belfast playwright); The Feast Of Lupercal by Brian Moore, As I Roved Out by Cathal O'Byrne - the most expensive at $9.50 plus shipping but seems to be a lot more expensive on Amazon, and from Amazon I got Call My Brother Back by Michael McLaverty. Jeez - that what can happen on a cold winter's night when you are home...

Ver..."That's a real bargain Theresa. I checked Amazon US and it's not on sale but I have gotten ebook/audible combinations sometimes for less than the price of the ebook. That's what I did for The Narrow Road to the Deep North though right now I am listening rather than reading.
Barbara, it was you who alerted me to the possibility of ebook + audio. Interestingly the Wampanoag who featured in Caleb's Crossing have a few mentions so I hope to learn something about them. Yes, I couldn't believe my luck with the price :)
You got a great deal there, Theresa-as you know I'm a big fan of the Daily Deal! :)Barbara, that's a pretty good haul-I absolutely loved the Moore novel when I read it last year-it was right up there with Judith Hearne for me.
Looking forward to seeing what you think of bury my heart Theresa. I think I came across that after reading the son and wanting a better insight to the history.

I picked up The Son in the Xmas Kindle sale as I didn't get around to reading it with the group in the summer and will save for after Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee: An Indian History of the American West.

Well I had almost forgotten I pre-ordered Love and Rockets: New Stories #7 back in December which was just released and came from Amazon on Friday. It's nice to get a new book despite my book buying ban. Now that we're into February, and I'm making money again with the new job, I'm starting to really want to buy books again. I was my local bookstore for the Joyce group I belong to, and they had a great Black History Month Display and a really nice edition of This is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz.

What is more dangerous is being home on a cold night and ordering lots of books like I did last night. I wll be starting Travels with Charley tonight or tomorrow.

Theresa - you'll love The Son. Allan - I will have to read the Moore novel soon as that is quite a recommendation.
Tonight's Irish book group was not only delightful conversation as Barbara mentioned in the General Chit Chat thread, but an opportunity for me to get more books without breaking my book buying ban!. And one of them was even a surprise. I knew Barbara was bringing meGun Street Girl (the ARC of which was originally Susan's!), but I had forgotten she was also bringing Cold Skin. I hope I wind up liking it better than she did (the horror being more up my alley). I don't think I've read any other writers from Spain, unless you count the way way simplified version of Don Quixote we read in AP (Advanced Placement) Spanish in high school.

Emma wrote: "Today is my birthday and I got 3 books. My sisters got me (upon request) A Struggle for Fame. My friend got me The Dispossessed which she informs me is taught in philos..."All the best!
Happy Birthday Emma! The Dispossessed is a little rough going at first, but once you get into it's interesting. My science fiction book group read it a few years ago. I guess I could see it being taught in philosophy classes. I haven't actually started Cold Skin Barbara, but I imagine I'll like it.

Happy birthday, Emma, although I think it was yesterday now. Hope it is/was a good one.
Happy birthday Cathleen! (I got a bit muddled up as to whose birthday it was and when but didn't mean to miss you out).
So I have to confess I broke my book buying ban tonight.
First I found out that neither the book for my March fantasy book club, Night Watch, nor the book for my March science fiction book club, The Inverted World are available at my local library, so I bought them. This did not break the ban. While buying those, I decided to get March: Book Two, the second volume of a graphic novel about civil rights leader, Congressman John Lewis Jr., one of the leaders of the Selma to Montgomery march that just got a movie made about it.
I also got another free book. The Irish book club I'm in with Barbara is an off shoot of a larger cultural organization. Every year on St. Patrick's Day they hand out Irish books. What's the Story? was the one last year, a collection of works by different authors. While at the book club, I asked whether it was possible to buy a copy of it. The group leader, kindly offered to just mail me one of his leftover copies. He mailed it Tuesday, and it got here today.

You did well to last that long Sara. I broke my New Years Resolution of not preordering online. I preordered Knights Shadow by Sebastian De Castell. I got the signed ltd edition to match my copy of his first book.
Surely your New Year's Resolution gives flexibility for a celebration?
Absolutely. Plus i decided if I've collections of ltd editions already started I can finish them. I have a few series where I've ltd editions right to the start and they are very valuable
Never crossed my mind that you would :)
I just ordered a copy of Maurice http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31... by E.M. Forster to add to my growing collection of his works. This one was published posthumously as he had been in two minds as to whether or not he should publish it while he was alive. After his death, and following changes in the law it was decided to publish it.
