FALL 2017 READING CHALLENGE

You're welcome-glad you like it. :) Have fun at the wedding! :D

I hope all is well with everyone in the group. Happy reading.

Thanks for the recommendations, Christine! :)
I've seen the original tv mini series of IT more times than I can count-so I finally decided to read the book because I have to see the new movie-glad to hear it's as good as it looks in the trailer-that fricking clown is crazy creepy :O
I loved the book

How was the wedding?!

I think I posted that I read the book a long time ago. I just got it on Audible and will listen to it after I finish The Handmaid's Tale. I love listening to books. I have a couple recommendations if anyone likes Audible books. I think SK does a great job of character development and that is why I love his writing so much.
The wedding is on the 24th, 11 days to do. Its very exciting and happy times around here.

I too, like audiobooks. Lately my eyes get very tired reading and I often stop and pick up the audio.

My son is getting married. Its on the 24th. We are in the midst of last minute preparations. Thankfully they are getting married here in the Seattle area so we don't have to travel. That does mean house guests but thankfully only the immediate family. The best part is being with the ones I love most on the planet for an extended period of time.

I'm listening to it on audible and steven weber is doing a great job so far. It's 45 hours so I might get the kindle book and just alternate back and forth with the audiobook.
I'm getting more comfortable with audiobooks although they take me longer to finish for whatever reason. Always love recommendations. :)
Sounds like a fun time hanging out with the family! :)

I will check them out-thanks! :)

Christine, I will check out the books you recommended, thanks.

I actually use my laptop but should probably try the iphone. I can't figure out how to adjust the speed on the laptop not sure if it's an option with this device. Can you adjust the speed on an iphone? I don't have a kindle fire.
Finally catching up. Thanks as always for the Fall Reading Challenge. I might see IT this weekend :-) I also want to see MOTHER!

You're welome :)
Have fun at the movies! :D
Karen B. wrote: "Dustin, I will be anxious to read how you liked these two movies."
I saw them both yesterday and I thought both were ok, but I wasn't crazy about either of them to be honest. IT was very reminiscent of cult 80's films - the redheaded girl was even referenced as Molly Ringwald, the fat kid kept reminding me of Goonies.
As for Mother! I had high hopes at first. I really thought I would like it. Mother! is very bizarre & disturbing but I would recommend A Ghost Story (DVD release date October 3rd) over Mother! :-)

I will say I thought they did a nice job with the clown - Tim Curry's iconic role is hard to compete with. And it was pretty evident they were setting this up to do a sequel given the way the original film starts 27 years later or whatever.
All that being said, I admit I've still not read the novel IT by Stephen King. I still might one of these days :-)

I want to see the new IT but I loved the original tv miniseries-tim curry was more than a little awesome as the clown.
I read the director always planned to do the movie in 2 parts-it's too big a story to fit into one film-they were only going to do a sequel if the first movie was successful
I'm listening to IT on audio right now and steven weber is awesome (i'm a big wings fan too) :)
3. October 10th is National Face Your Fears Day.
So this fall:
READ A BOOK WITH THE LETTERS F-E-A-R
IN THE TITLE/SUBTITLE (please note these letters do not have to be in order)
Reminder: Fear Nothing by Dean Koontz is the September Group Read in the Koontzland - Dean Koontz Group. You could read this for both groups :-) This will likely be the next book I start. A great choice for task #3 in the Fall Reading Challenge!

I really enjoyed his novel

Thanks for the update, Dustin! :)
Asylum is one of my favorite seasons of American Horror Story :-) I'm excited to finally be able to start watching Roanoke when it's released on DVD next week.

I just finished first task, a translated book,

Welcome back, Christine! I was wondering where you were. Glad you enjoyed your vacation and of course the wedding. :)
Thanks for the update! It's been depressingly quiet in this thread. I hope Danell is okay-I haven't seen her post on goodreads in a long time. I don't do facebook so not sure if she's postng there.
Congratulations on your travels Christine :-) I have been extremely busy at work. Chocolate is in high demand. People need their chocolate. I haven't seen much from Danell on Facebook either. I'll go see if there are any updates & report back.
Danell was posting on Facebook 14 hours ago. I'm sure she's just busy. October is a crazy month, but September was also a crazy month, of course Crazy is my middle name.
I think the only Fall Reading Book I've done is Fear Nothing, which I immensely enjoyed.

America's First Daughter, has f-e-a-r in the title. Don't recommend it.
Sacrifice, character(s) have been adopted. This was an entertaining read, the author used local lore to make a mystery/thriller, lots of twists to this one.

Thanks for checking. I hope she's okay -miss her posts.

Sounds like my kind of vacation! :D
Which other countries did you visit?

We went to Switzerland, Germany, France and the Netherlands.

Oh no about the computer virus. What a pain!
I will probably see The Snowman. Maybe not at a theater. I've seen the preview and it does look good. We are going to see Blade Runner this afternoon. Its also Walking Dead weekend. I love that show. Does anyone watch it?
Danell is still posting on Facebook. I do that same thing when I get busy. Work has been extremely insane and although I'm on Facebook everyday, I don't check in with Goodreads as often.
I have ancestry from Switzerland so I always find that country intriguing. Maybe someday I will visit the home country.
Blade Runner is too long 2 hrs and 45 minutes - it's hard for me to sit that long, but I might see The Snowman even though it has terrible reviews :-)

(new)
Nothing I'm reading right now fits into the Fall Reading Challenge and I haven't had time to look up specific new books :-(
Hopefully I'll be able to catch up in November. I would like to revisit a book I loved growing up and maybe a Roald Dahl book too. I'll try to get at least 3 books - I've already read Fear Nothing by Dean Koontz.
Since Scooby Doo was mentioned, I would recommend: Meddling Kids. It's a fun mystery gang story in the tradition of Scooby Doo. I have to return it to the library because I don't have time to finish it, but would like to try the book again someday.

That sounds like an amazing trip, Christine! I would love to go to Europe someday. :)
