Happy Fall Ya’ll! August is over and Fall is on its way, and with it another reading wrap-up! This is the first month since doing this wrap up that I have a couple books I didn’t much like on my list, so let's get started.

This month I read…

King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard- This is the third in a series. I enjoyed the first one, liked the second ok, and did not like this one at all. The plot felt really slow because most of this book was spent with the characters witnessing or playing political mind games. I honestly just don’t enjoy political mind games type plots either, it’s just not my cup of tea. Also, the way it ended was just infuriating. I can see why this is series is popular for sure, the concept and characters are pretty good. I just couldn’t get into this one. Maybe #4 will be better?

Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple- I really enjoyed this one! Great characters, great plot, and the format really brought something unique to the story. There is so much character development involved in this story as well, and it was done so beautifully. I think a lot of us can relate to the journey at least one of the characters takes in the story.

The Carnivorous Carnival by Lemony Snicket- The further these books go as I’m rereading, I’m surprised by how grim they are getting. I mean a children's book where “freaks” at a carnival get feed to hungry lions in a pit for people to watch? I’m still enjoying them though.

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins- This was the other book I didn’t much like on my list the month. While I’m a sap for cheesy romances most of the time, this one just didn’t do much for me. It boiled down to the characters for me. Most seemed flat and didn’t feel very believable. I did still enjoy most of the cheesy romantic bits though!

What did you read this month? Be sure to share down below!

Happy Reading!

The Series of Unfortunate Events were a childhood favorite of mine as well! I'm so glad I decided to reread them this year. Have you seen the Netflix show?

Looks like your a big science fiction fan! I don't read much in that genre myself, by I've heard Asimov is good. Maybe I should add some of these to my list!

Cadi | 48 comments Hello everyone! This month I had the fortune of reading some great books.

Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania was fantastic. I didn't know nearly as much about that event as I thought I did. I'm looking forward to reading some others by him now.

The Postman Always Rings Twice. A short little book that caused quite a stir when it was published.

Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett. One of my fave authors. This is a WWII spy novel. He's a great storyteller.

Last Days of Hitler. Great subject matter (all about the time in the bunker) even though the writing was a little much at times.

Happy reading!

Sounds like you found some interesting Non-Fiction picks Cadi! I'm trying to branch out and read more Non-Fiction, I've only read about 3 Non-Fiction books this year though....

Cadi | 48 comments You just have to find what interests you. There's plenty of non-fiction that I won't read but if it's about Russia or WWII then I'm on it! :)

That's true Cadi! I've found I really enjoy memoirs, but I hope to branch out even further than that.

I hope it goes further too! I was so sad there wasn't more movies. Can't wait for season 2!
