This is more of a prequel book to C.A. King's new series Tomoiya's story. From the start Tomoiya is on a voyage to a side of her universe she doesn't quite understand- the side of darkness. The captain of her detail sees her holding her prized possession, a diary. This diary was passed on to her from her mother and details the life of a rare princess named Allaynie. The diary ends at her wedding but the captain knows more and feels it is his duty to tell Tomoiya. She has to know now before history repeats itself. Tomoiya sits and listens as the story unfolds about what actually happened after the golden vampire princess's wedding.
There is shock and horror and surprise as everything you thought you knew about vampires fades is this beautifully haunting story. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
