Warcross, the new sci-fi thriller from bestselling YA author Marie Lu, officially pubs on September 12.

Maybe we can get ARCs or are they out already?

We received an ARC for Warcross a few months ago. Marvin has already read it and lent me his copy. We're probably going to share our thoughts on the book on the podcast in the near future. Hopefully, we'll have the opportunity to speak with Marie Lu herself once she's settled down from her book tour.

Teresa Meng (resareviews) | 30 comments Is there a way to reach out to Asian American publishing organization? or do you reach out to individual publishing companies? I am starting to get into book reviewing and received two ARCs. Trying to branch into more Asian American literature though...

Hm... the only publisher I can think of that specializes in strictly Asian American literature is Salaam Reads, Simon & Schuster's new Muslim YA and children's books imprint.

The ARCs we receive are usually mailed to us by publishers or donated to us by friends from the local Asian American community. We sometimes reach out to authors and publicists asking for copies, which can take a while depending on their response time. I know a lot of bloggers also apply to get electronic copies of ARCs through NetGalley.

Honestly, Asian American literature is still very much a niche. Best bet is to contact the publicity departments of publishing houses. I know big publishers like Penguin actually have galley request forms, expediting the process. Hope that helps!

Teresa Meng (resareviews) | 30 comments Thanks for the advice! I already have netgallery but have found that I dont finish many eBooks (only 50% completion rate...rip). To get printed books, I have tracked down publishers of books from Asian-American authors that I am interested in. I have been able to secure the following: "Little Soldiers" by Lenora Chu, "Being Mortal" by Atul Gawande, "Goodbye, Vitamin" our monthly pick!, "Wangs vs. the World" by Jade Chang and "We Gon' Be Alright" by Jeff Chang. I still have yet to hear from a few bigger publishers. I have a very modest and new blog/instagram so I encourage y'all to also try this method!

yiming | 21 comments Teresa, what is your blog?
Krystal, do you have a blog too? I'm interested in ARCs but don't have a book blog, altho I could share thoughts on my Instagram account.

Krystal (krystalkavitajagoo) | 16 comments Yiming, no blog yet despite meaning to, but that is not a requirement for NetGalley so I would encourage you to sign up.
