When did you read this? Was the book in Russian, English, or something else? Is the book recent, a classic, or somewhere in between? Remember the cover? Author female or male? Is there anything at all you remember about plot, characters, etc.?
I think it wass a classic. I know that it was a Russian writer ( I think it was a male) but nothing more, just this quote.
Was it definitely prose? "Я не унижусь пред тобою..." by Mikhail Lermontov has И целый мир возненавидел,Чтобы тебя любить сильней.
