(view spoiler)[It has a Harry Potter feel, which of course is a good thing. I found it really cool how Chiron came out of the wheelchair and is a centaur.
I'm not sure how I feel about Grover. How will their relationship be now that Percy knows he's a half-blood and Grover has been there to protect him.
I can't wait for him to see the oracle. I feel like that's how this story will gain a true direction. Because right no there is no direction really, just scene setting. (hide spoiler)]

Hi guys, how are you doing? I'm right about to start chapter 5.
Okay. now why no one ever told me that this book is so much different than a movie? (I'm not stupid books are always different and in 99% better than movies) but as far it's like I was reading two completely different stories about a guy called Percy Jackson.
And I have to say. (view spoiler)[This boarding school (or rather six boarding schools) - great. And reasons why he was kicked out from every single one of them - I'm pleased. (hide spoiler)]

Okay I didn't make a big progress in reading (page 85) but I'm actually kinda pissed off (view spoiler)[Why no one told Percy what is actually going on yet? Why no one told him that he's the son of god (okay, they kinda did, but still not really)? Why no one told him that he's the son of Poseidon? He's 12. It's like "hey, greek myths are real and you're half blood. now here's where you sleep, here's the forest, we'll give you armour and stuff and now go to your room" Really? (hide spoiler)]

This is a re-read for me too, but I never got past the first book, and I barely remember it. You're right, it's so different to the movie!!
Pages 1-32 I love the beginning of this. Such. A. Great. Beginning. And Grover is so cute! It's sweet how naive Percy is. You don't have to know anything about this book, or the Greeks, to know that snipping the cord is a bad thing. Come on, Percy! It's great how he actually acts twelve, not like in the movie, or most other books with young heroes. "Smelly Gabe", god Percy's adorable!!

How are you doing guys? I'm somewhere in the middle of chapter 16. OMG I love the zebra. I couldn't help it but I imagined Marty from Madagascar. And with this Free me, lord I was done. With myself of course. And now I know my brain will be killing me with "I like to move it move it" for the rest of the week. Are your brains doing the same thing? With making the most stupid connection ever? With reminding you about something incredibly funny when you're supposed to be serious? Singing songs in your head all the time (and I mean these really silly songs, like from ads or something)?
I'm at that point where I'm scared to be left alone with my brain.

Chapters 13-21 (view spoiler)[ Yay, the big battle scene! It had to happen, right? Hades is so bad-ass and terrifying, it was great. But Ares is even more bad-ass, even though he got beaten by a 12-year-old. And okay, he's a bit of a wuss. But I forgive him, he's cool! Now off to Olympus to yell at a god... THERE'S a good idea, Percy. Not dumb at all. Not suicide. Oh, and we get to find out who stole the helmet soon! I know who it is, I watched the movie, and I'm so excited to read about it! Just catching up. Chapters 1-8 (view spoiler)[ First I think Percy is a pretty cool main character. I do not like Gabe, his stepfather, at all and really hope I never have to hear about him again. It was really sad when Percy's mom died, but I think that will just push Percy harder. So far camp Half-blood seems interesting. Especially considering we just found out Percy is the son of Poseidon.(view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

Hi I'm up to chapter 9 (view spoiler)[ I like the beginning so far., the half-blood camp is interesting, I like the way its described and how it works, it gives the camp an unique feel. Making his bullies girls was interesting, I haven't seen it before in books, but I have seen it often in real life that girls bully boys. I hope his moms not really died, and I'm wait to see whats the quests about. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 9 through 15 (view spoiler)[So the quest is to find Zeus's sword, which has been stolen. Zeus believes Percy took it to help his father. So far during this quest Percy, Grover, and Annabeth have fought with 3 kindly one (and blew up a bus), Medusa(snakes eww), and Echinda(who was creepy). Also they came in contact with Ares, who asked them to get back his shield. Which led them to a trap set by Hephaestus. I have a feeling that that friend that will betray Percy is Annabeth or Luke, I really hope I am wrong.(view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

I'm up to chapter 16 (view spoiler)[I think its gonna be Luke, I mean he gave he those shoes that fly that he can't use because it could mean Zeus killing him and when he saw him he asked if Percy was wearing them and I got the impression that he really wanted Percy to be wearing them, there also the warning about not trusting the gift from the messenger that look liked his mom. That also means that the friend that betrays him could be Chiron, but I still think it's Luke. I wonder who has Percy's mom, do you think its Hades? because I'm getting the feeling he doesn't. I also really like Ares, I think the big scary biker dude is an interesting interpretation of the god of war. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 16 through 19 (view spoiler)[ So they final reach the underworld. We now that Percy had the thunderbolt they whole time, but only because (I am assuming Ares set him up. It was sad to see him leave his mom with Hades, but I know thats what his mom would have wanted him to do. I hope he gets to the summer solstice in time. I really liked Percy's interaction with his father, how they're both unsure of each other but they're willing to give it a chance. I think Kronos is a pretty good overarching villain.
