I'm sorry this one wasn't a win for you, better luck next time!

Hacen wrote: "Finished. I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Loved the visual of the book and AIDAN and the Phobos virus were interesting but the tone of the book is too YA for me and the main characters fell flat."

I think this books strengths definitely lie in the format, it just makes it a cool reading experience. It's a shame you didn't connect with the characters though.

RuinEleint 23% in.

I love the report-and-communication format!

I'm about two-thirds of the way through and struggling not to DNF. I don't like the characters. I hate the text like interactions back and forth. I'm not invested in anything about this story.

I'm the opposite of Miche in that the audiobook made this story for me. I went out and got the physical copy when I was halfway through the audiobook, just to have it because the layout is very cool, but the full cast and sound effects on the audiobook were amazing.

So glad you're enjoying it Veronica! I kind of wishes I'd listened to the ebook, even though I adore the printed format. Maybe for a future reread I'll grab the audio.

That's such a shame, you're almost done! Try and push through, points for the team :p

Good to know! I hate physical books. Might start on physical and move on to audio.

Shockingly this turned around for me once (view spoiler) I thought their interactions were interesting after that and the action really picked up.

RuinEleint 81% in.

This book gets steadily darker and better.

Normally I would be totally with you on the backtrack aspect but, amazingly, I was okay with this. (view spoiler) Just don't spread it around. ;-)

Then why torment yourself?

Think of a full radio play and Star Wars type sound effects for battles and such.

Siobhan I completely agree!! That part was beautiful! I actually cried a little in the metro reading those pages! Visually is was stunning of course but God I felt so much!

I think we're at roughly the same point now, I'm now at page 327 so (view spoiler)

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5391 comments Ok, I FINALLY started this one. The library lost my hold so I gave up and just started on audio after reading a bunch of positive audiobook reviews. I'm about 5% in but I'm not sure I'm loving the narration layout.

You don't want to know what I imagine here:). I will just say there are lots of lightsaber effects in my mind :) :)

I hope the audio gets better for you!

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5391 comments I'm at about 33% and I think I need to pause. I feel like I'm missing something with not having the pictures and such in front of me. The library called and finally got my hold situation worked out so I'm going to pick it up tonight and will try it again when I have the book.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments I must be the only one who hated Aidan. Creepy, stalkerish AI. lol

That's what made him/it a great character. Good bad guys.

Thats great Diana, in sure you'll love the print version when it arrives, it's super cool.

Veronica wrote: "I must be the only one who hated Aidan. Creepy, stalkerish AI. lol"

I love the crazies, they're often my favourite characters!

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 3613 comments After working for over a decade in an inpatient psychiatric setting I guess I find the "crazies" a lot less entertaining. :-)

Finished!! 5 stars. I couldn't stop turning the pages, it looked so cool visually and the story kept me going. Absolutely loved (view spoiler)

Alright, fair enough.

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5391 comments I stopped the audiobook at about 35% and then went about 60% thought in the regular book. I actually stopped the regular book for a bit and reread some of the beginning parts again. I think a lot is lost in audio. So many scratch outs and side notes that you don't get. I'm really happy I decided to get the physical book. Thank you all for the suggestion.

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments I'm finally finished! I loved this book, definitely one of my most enjoyable reads so far this year, I have to see, AIDAN stole the freaking show.

It arrived today! I'm still thinking about the end... That's how you know you enjoyed a book I think, when you're still invested it in even after you've finished.
