Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Janet wrote: "...you are moving to Texas from where?"

I'm currently living about 15 miles north east of Atlanta, Georgia. This is where I'll be moving to Texas from. I've sent you a friend request. :)

Andrea wrote: "Hallelujah! Monique, thanks for the update, and I'm so happy all y'all got was much-needed rain."

Hallelujah, praise God indeed! The only good rain we've had in months is what was brought in by Hurricanes Irma and Nate. With the lack of rain, a lot of local plant life has been drying out and dying. I hope we get more rain soon.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I'm feeling eager to learn our team challenge tasks for Round Five (starting Wednesday)! 😉

Like Andrea, I am proud of what our team has accomplished, getting every possible point so far for this challenge! Go Team Metamorphosis! 😊

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Me too! Super anxious. I'm hoping one of the books I'm reading right now will work for something (Hope Harbor and Petticoat Detective) since I'm hoping to have those finished in a few days. I will be finishing A Twist of Faith before midnight tonight, so it won't work for anything.

#9: Lightning

Read a book that has lightning on the book’s cover or mentioned in its text.

#28: Veterans Day (November 11)

*Read a book that fits one of the following:
-A book with "11" in the page count or publication date (November would count for 11).
-Takes place during WWI

I could do #7 and read Where Two Hearts Meet (Prince Edward Island Dreams #2) by Liz Johnson or #41 and read The Keeper of Her Heart by Stacy Henrie .

But if a different one is better for me to read, I can look for a different book. Just let me know. :))

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments My book Petticoat Detective (Undercover Ladies, #1) by Margaret Brownley works for anything except #28 Veterans Day. It mentions "pies," so it will work for the bonus point (unless it has to be a specific pie rather than general).

General pies work. :))

message 210: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Awesome. Then I'll take #20, with the bonus point. I should finish my book by this weekend.

message 211: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Oct 12, 2017 09:24AM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I would love to take #9 with 5 Minutes with Jesus. :)

#9: Lightning
*Read a book that has lightning on the book’s cover or mentioned in its text.
5 Minutes with Jesus by Sheila Walsh
How it works: "It wasn't pretty... but I wasn't struck by lightning" (p. 10). "Do you know how God controls the storm and causes the lightning to flash from his clouds?" (p. 19).

This book could actually cover any of Round Five's tasks except for #20.

I am loving 5 Minutes with Jesus and should be finished with it by the end of this week. :)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Update:

message 218: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Kimberly, do you have a shorter book by an author with a first or last name that starts with V? Victoria Bylin and Vanetta Chapman are the two that popped into my mind, but I'm sure there are others. Otherwise, I hope the reading goes quickly on that mega book.

message 219: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (ksnapier) | 705 comments I have been through them all. Mydaughter read it quickly so the challenge is out there

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Melanie - The book you just finished reading (On Love's Gentle Shore) has clouds on the cover, which could cover task #7. :)

I can fulfill task #41 as well as task #9, if needed, if we don't hear back from Jamie. I'll be finished with task #9 by the end of this weekend.

Kimberly - Kudos for challenging yourself to read Fall of Giants in less than two weeks! This looks like an interesting book. :)

Happy reading team! :)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Thank you Andrea! :)

I've just posted my review for task #9: Lightning. :)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Great job, Team Metamorphosis! We're on a great track.

Jamie and Kimberly, how are those books coming along? Did you have any extra time for reading over the weekend?

message 228: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Oct 19, 2017 01:15PM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Kimberly - With Fall of Giants being such a long book, the pressure is off to finish this book the end of Round Five. Jamie ended up finishing a book today that fulfills the #28 task. I'm sure Fall of Giants will cover a Round Six task, if you finish it between October 25th and November 7th. :)

I will be finishing a book that fulfills the #41 task tonight - The Secret of the Old Clock. How it works: There is a clock on the cover and the word "clock" is throughout its text. I'm enjoying re-reading this childhood favorite. :)

I hope this is okay with everyone...

...actually, next round is the final round. Not all the tasks will get called and this was done on purpose to keep things random. :))

I can't believe the game is almost over! But there will be a Christmas/holiday themed challenge posted shortly after this one ends.

"There will be 6 rounds, each round is 14 days.
Challenge starts August 16th and ends November 8th."

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Wow! I must have forgotten that there are only six rounds to this challenge... and I hadn't realized that we won't be covering all 50 tasks that were listed. Even more reason for us to start on books now that can cover as many of the remaining tasks as possible... in an attempt to be the first team to finish this challenge. I'm going to look for a book or two like this now to finish on Wednesday.

I'll miss this challenge and being teamed with you all!

message 233: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Thanks for the reminder, Melanie!

My next books are:

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Fall of Giants, which Kim is currently reading, will definitely cover one of the round six tasks (as I mentioned in a post yesterday). :)

I am searching for short books (100-200 pages) to read that will cover as many of the remaining tasks as possible...

Awesome Andrea!!! :)

We all should finish the round six tasks as quickly as possible, considering the first team to finish this final round's tasks wins the challenge. ;)

I started my #6 book this morning and will be finishing it tonight. I chose Because of Winn-Dixie (182 pages) for this task because I knew it would be a quick read. So... I've also found a cute 112 page book to cover the #16 task (Turkey Monster Thanksgiving), which I've started and will finish tomorrow. :)

#16: Thanksgiving Turkey
*Read a book with a TURKEY on the cover or in its text.
Turkey Monster Thanksgiving by Anne Warren Smith

*How it works: There is a turkey on the cover (on the girl’s shirt) as well as throughout the text. “Sunday afternoon, Claire and Mr. Plummer gave up on putting their turkey on the roof. It was too big. Instead, they set it on the lawn where it glared at everyone who walked by” (Chapter Five).
