Fbgier Gergr | 5 comments t's going to sound really weird but it was basically this woman who volunteered to be a surrogate for this tech company that had found remains of an ancient body (i can't remember how but it was somehow superior to humans in terms of intellect) and wanted to use the DNA or something like that to 'create' a child. After that my memory is fuzzy but the main plot is that the woman decides she wants to keep the child to herself and the whole book is basically them running away...

I remember only small parts of the novel. For instance, I remember that the boy (as in the one who the surrogate then gives birth to) can tell if someone is telling the truth and there is one scenario where they're in a park and he says something to a lady sitting next to them and freaks her out.

There is also an event where a doctor of some sort makes the woman sign an empty contract under the pretense that it was needed 'formalities' but he then later fills it out himself and it's basically the opposite of what the woman wanted.
Update : I just remembered how they found the ancient remains. It was on some mountain and people that were hiking there either a) stumbled across it or b) died and while authorities came, they discovered the remains.

Michele | 2488 comments Possibly Orphan of Creation? Been a long time since I read it so I don't know if the part about the boy mind-reading is in there, but the other parts I think fit.

Unfortunately not... :(

I think it has 'bear' or 'man' or 'cave' or 'ice' in the name. If memory serves, the title is the name of the historic thingiemajingie that they find.

Michele | 2488 comments FYI Fbgier, the usual lag time for bumping is 1 month -- that is, if there's been no activity for 30 days you should feel free to go ahead and bump it. If you bump too soon, it's likely that only the same people will see it. Waiting a month or so makes it more likely new people will see it, since people cycle into and out of the group, or into and out of having time to check it.
