We got Higgie's point of view from time to time. Was there a point when you began to doubt that he'd murdered Wanda and framed Eileen?

He was a piece of work and basically sold his manhood to have a shot at the Supreme Court. In the beginning of the book when we first meet him, I thought for sure he was the murderer. When Kristin told how happy he was that she was his daughter, it gave me pause and I started looking for another baddie suspect.

I initially accepted that he was the killer until Eileen's partial description of what she saw. Why would he be making out with Wanda one second and shooting her the next? It just didn't make sense.

Once I realized that he wasn't the killer, I knew it had to be the wife.

I got really confused about this character. He was calculating and extremely flawed, not who he presented himself to be. It took me some time to realize he wasn't a murderer.

Like Lauren, I thought Higgie was the killer until Eileen talked about exactly what happened that night. He's kissing Wanda and then she's dead. He ran one direction and Eileen ran to her car in the other direction. Yet, the murder weapon was in her car.

I started suspecting Marilee as soon as the prostitute was killed.
