Trying to sort out a kindle

Hi, the collection has to be made in your amazon cloud. Than you'd upload it to the device you wish. It may be kindle app for PC, or tablet as well.

Nope. All books stay unless manually removed.

I'm a collection freak myself and it's imperative since over 6000 pz in my cloud. What I love is the PC app and that program gives its collection possibility.
But the idea is all about the Kindle e-readers. Amazon takes care for the customers having multiple devices. Everything is clear and easy enough.

My Kindle book-buying process is as follows:
Buy book.
Read book until finished.
Buy another book.
Read book until finished.
Etc.
No need to buy in advance when delivery is instantaneous.

(I've a gut feeling that Amazon knows far too much about me already :-( )
So how do I shift books from my computer to the kindle?

Shifting is not possible. If these are a DRM-free books just put them into the reader using the cable to connect to PC. A copy/paste thing.

You will need your books to be in azw3 or mobi format for the kindle to read them. You can use software like Calibre to convert, if necessary. Calibre can also link to your kindle and transfer the books into the correct folder on the kindle, as well as viewing what's on the kindle already, and making a backup of those books too, if you want.
You can register the kindle to your Amazon account, then turn on airplane mode - this will let you create collections on the kindle itself (though obviously not download items). You can them simply use a usb cable to transfer books to and from your pc to the kindle.

Are you sure you haven't been accidentally staring at light bulbs and getting bright blob in the center of your vision...?
Happens to me all the time.

Look, even Kath says she has no problem with doing it as well."
As our Kath is extremely revered in my estimation - I have to take this info on board. :-)

Yep, Fire 8. And I have energy-saving light bulbs, so they're not so tiring to stare at. ;)

If you connect the Kindle to the PC with the usb cable, it automatically opens File Explorer on the PC showing the Kindle drive. Just copy the file into the 'documents' directory then do the usual safely remove thing and pull out cable. Kindles are really easy that way.

thanks Pam
I did wonder if I could store the documents in files to make the file a collection but that doesn't appear to work

I've set up my kindle so I can send my .mobi books to my kindle by email. It simplifies things a lot. :-) but that sodoes require registering it with Amazon.

The Kindle e-reader is perfect for PDF format. You've just to play a bit with the character size.( I mayself use 16pt for this).
Such PDF files if sent to the reader through the "Send to Kindle" option (upon registering) allow the notes made to be exported and being received as mail message.

My Fire-8 is just perfect! I really do like the pale green layout for reading. Sadly the usable memory is only 5,3 GB and this is tooooo little.

remember that to get email, my kindle has to sit in the same room as the desktop computer anyway,(it's the only place with wi fi) so I might as well just transfer books over the wire rather than worry about settings :-)

I've worked out that reading in 'landscape' with the page just nicely filling the page of the kindle seems to be fine for me
I've not bothered with the wi fi on the grounds I'd have to sit next to the desktop computer to get it anyway. (We have nothing else that depends on wi fi)
So I just transfer over the wire :-)
But I was trying to shift things into collections because it's easier to work things.
Came upon a problem
When I go to the home screen and click on the menu I get
Turn Wireless on
Shop in Kindle Store
Search
Settings
Experimental
These are all in bold
Greyed out and unobtainable are
View archived items
Create New Collection
Sync and Check for items
View downloading items
At the moment I cannot find out how to click of Create new Collections
What am I doing wrong?
