Annotating Books

I typically don't annotate when I read novels, but reading non-fiction or inspiration books I always do it. It just makes it easier to find my way back to the parts I found most interesting. :)
I mark the heck out of books. I keep an index in the back to track themes and underline examples when I see them. Other common things I index: references to other books authors, insights of human experience, and W3 (way with words) when I just love the way something is written.
I don't tend to write on my books unless I find it necessary but I do underline things and put lots of post-its on them, which are also color coded.
I was talking to my local librarian the other day about this. Ive got her doing this list now too. And she said people who annotate will annotate library books. I couldn't believe it! I think thats what we have goodreads for anyways. Its a way to keep track of what you read already and when. If you use the dates on your books. You can hook it up to your kindle as well. Its easier that way.

I've just begun annotating in pencil only (no pens or highlighters, in case I change my mind!) and know that other people love to annotate! I wanted to hear some of your thoughts about annotating in books 🙂
