THE GRIP OF IT: Kindle Notes and Highlights Experiment
I do need readers : )
I have to respond back to Goodreads with all of our email addresses so they can send us the books. Can you send me a message with them?!

Got it!
For anyone else who might be on the fence, here's what goodreads emailed me:
Here's a little more about what we'll be signing up for: (straight from their email to me)
"We’d like to give you 10 free copies of a Kindle book of your choice, one for you and nine to share with your friends and fellow readers on Goodreads for a buddy read! There’s no cost involved and if anyone doesn’t have a Kindle ereader, you can also read the book using the free Kindle app on your favorite device. In exchange, we ask that you use Kindle Notes and Highlights as you read to share your favorite passages and notes from the book with your Goodreads friends. When you’re finishing reading, we’ll send a survey to you and your fellow readers to get feedback on your experience with Kindle Notes and Highlights. That’s it!
We ask that all participants finish reading (and highlighting!) by October 1, 2017. We’ll then send you the survey to complete.
If you’re interested in participating, please send over the title of the book you’d like to read (your pick, but with a maximum price of $12.00 per copy) and the links to the Goodreads profiles of the people you’d like to share the book with (up to nine). We’ll then email them about how to get their Kindle copy. Please note that all participants must be located in the US for us to deliver the ebooks."
Looks like they just need our profiles for the time being.
If you think this sounds cool, think you can commit to completing the book via buddy reading by October 1st, hit me up here! I can take up to 9 readers on this journey with me.
Personally, I think this sounds cool. I'm not one for marginalia so I'm not sure how I will take to this whole kindle notes thing... but it'll be neat to give it a shot and give the site feedback on our experience once we're done : )

Shall we plan to start reading it together next week, or do we think it's better to start at the top of the month?
I had a problem downloading mine (apparently I had two amazon accounts and I redeemed my book under the one that isn't synced with my kindle app). Hoping to get it fixed soon!
Just my luck, hahaha

Still working with Goodreads to get a replacement copy for the one I accepted at the wrong account. Let's plan on kicking off the read-a-long with notes and highlights on September 1st.
Sound good to everyone?

Melanie, I am going to send you a DM here... please check it and pass along the info I am requesting and I will try to straighten it out for you!
Yay guys, I was able to get my copy of the book straightened out and I'm all set to get started on the 1st! Excited!!!
Happy holiday weekend everyone! I've just started reading, and made 5 highlights/notes already. Anyone starting yet?
So I figured out how to make my notes and highlights visible to people but I don't understand where you can go to see them.
Here's what I've noted so far:

Let me know when you highlight something and make it visible so we play around and see each other's.

Interesting. Tiffany, so you were able to see mine not in goodreads, but in the Kindle App? Have you entered any notes yet?
so what do we think so far? I love jemc's style. right from the get-go you know shit is going to hit the fan with this house, but it's unraveling so slowly, and I love it.
I chewed through the entire book today. I couldn't put it down! Also made a bunch of highlights.
What about you ladies?

Hey Tiffany! I was able to view your highlights and notes! I guess we have to click on "see review" to view the review in full page mode, then it makes your highlights available for me to see.

I think it's interesting how we didn't highlight anything the same! I love how certain parts of the book connected with us differently.
I think we are the only three out of the 6 who took the book, who participated so far, so if we're careful and mark our spoilers using the html code to cover them up, we can discuss our thoughts on the ending. I'd love to hear what you think...
So let's start with the first and most obvious question...
Do you think the house was truly haunted, or do you think it was something less ' supernatural ' that was going on?

Goodreads has offered me the opportunity to conduct a Kindle Notes and Highlight experiment, where they will give me and up to 9 additional participants a free kindle book. All we have to do is agree to read the book by October 1st, and use the Notes and Highlight feature as we read it together.
I'm thinking of requesting Jac Jemc's The Grip of It: A Novel because (1) she's a phenominal writer (2) I didn't land a reviewers copy of this one and I really really really want to read it and (3) it just released so we'll be some of the first to help spread the word!!!
Only serious participants should respond.
I have to get back to the goodreads team with the book I've chosen and the email addresses of the people whe committ to read it with me no later than a week from now, so if you're interested, hit me up here.
