Samantha Burnell | 13 comments Right here is a little something that has worked for me, I'm sharing as I am hoping you lot might like the idea, might click the link, might like my reviews, might even leave me one. Who knows - it could happen.

Okay here is how it all worked. I produced my first novel A Queen's Spy: The Tudor Mystery Trials A Queen's Spy The Tudor Mystery Trials by Samantha Burnell

It does okay, I've done loads of promo for it, however it had pretty much reached a level and wasn't going any further. What to do? AMS was just like setting fire to money, so I came up with this little plan - I wrote a pre-quel to my book. And here it is The Tudor Heresy The Tudor Mystery Trials by Sam Burnell The Tudor Heresy: The Tudor Mystery Trials

Okay you may ask so how has this helped. Well this book is free, if you click the link you will see that it is totally free on amazon, not just on kindle unlimited. It is around 7,000 words ish and serves as an intro to the real book. Obviously the idea is that if they read the free one then they will want to go and buy the book.

Has it worked? Yes. My purchases have doubled almost straight away and on the pages read I have put an extra 50% on.

Does the free book get downloads - Again yes. An average of around 100 a day, and there was one freak day when I bagged 508!

So there you have it, a genuinely free idea to get readers into your work. I know it means extra work, but it has paid off for me,

If you want to know how to get a book up on Amazon for free you can email me fourthelement@hotmail.com and I can let you know how this whole thing could work for you.

If you have liked this novel (hey get the pun) idea to marketing why not click on my FREE book and download it and see how I have put this together, at the end there is an author note letting them know there is more and a direct tie in to the next book. (yes, yes, I am shamelessly asking you to download and review my book - but hey one good turn as they say)

Any comments send them my way

Sam

Pamela Harstad | 15 comments Excellent idea, Sam. I've seen another author do this. Glad to know it worked out well. Will check it out.

Samantha Burnell | 13 comments If you need any help on getting a book out free on Amazon just let me know, it was a bit tricky, but once I figured it out the next time will be easier still.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has tried this out. I am about to publish my second novel and to promote it I'm going to launch another free book to drive a bit of traffic.
