It seemed obvious that Tala was being held unwillingly by someone. Were you puzzled as to why she was killed at that moment?

It seemed a bit extreme, especially after learning she didn't even "belong" to that idiot. He set her up to see who she was meeting, all the while planning to kill her. It was bizarre.

Tala wasn't his "property" yet he was using her as if she was. Why he even cared was beyond me. At first I thought he just got off on the control, but this guy seriously thought the world revolved around him.
