Wow!!! Amazing end and all the plot questions end up getting tied up. I love that. That's why this makes it a 5 star book for me too!

Plus finding their Dad and how Quivira will be dealt with in the future.
It looks like Nora kept Sloane's involvement (trying to kill her and others) from her father? Are you picking that up too from the end? Makes sense. No point in destroying an old man about his only remaining family member.
The fact that Smithback won't mention her involvement too means that he's growing as a reporter too! (hide spoiler)]

Awesome! I agree with you on that ending (view spoiler)[ Such a good backstory. Amazing we could know none of that until the epilogue, and yet it fits so well. I have to admit, there was a tear in my eye when they read the last journal entry, lol.

As for Sloane, I wasn't sure either whether she'd told the father what happened. I'm kinda assuming like you that they didn't. (hide spoiler)]
