I just started reading the story but it has a Brandon Sanderson feel to it. I believe I'm going to enjoy it.

From all the positive comments, I'm expecting great things from this series :-)

I'm on my 5th book of the series, and if I can say one thing I'd say it gets better with each new book, even the stand-alones are as captivating as the original trilogy, if not more raw and gritty..

Finished Furies of Calderon. It was a great read. Started Among Thieves.

So far I'm enjoying Among Thieves. Kind of reminds me of Gentleman Bastards a little bit.

message 59: by Femmy (new)

Femmy | 166 comments I like Gentlemen Bastards more than Among Thieves.

Finished Red Sister and I really want book two :(

Joseph | 1651 comments Finished (finally!) The Witchwood Crown -- it was very good, but I didn't realize how long it was until I saw a physical copy in a store and saw that not only was it 750+ pages long, but it was 750 pages of really, really tiny type.

And I decided it was time for something completely different, and much older, so I read Maiwa's Revenge: Or The War Of The Little Hand and started Colonel Quaritch, V.C.: A Tale of Country Life, both written in the 1880s or 1890s by H. Rider Haggard.

Monica Davis Loved The Witchwood Crown, Joseph. Looking forward to the next in the series. I read it should be released in Spring 2018.

I've started Senlin Ascends. Another book that has been nominated several times, but never won the group poll. I've read the first 4 chapters and really like it so far.

I was so convinced it would win that I bought it!

Scenlin Ascends? Yes, I also bought a copy when someone (Jakub?) in the group mentioned that it was on sale. I'm on chapter 12. It's unusual, but very good. Reminds me of a "Lord Peter Wimsey" mystery...with a fantasy twist.

I haven't given up on it winning -yet!

I'm reading Feedback

Joseph | 1651 comments Finished Colonel Quaritch, V.C.: A Tale of Country Life and am moving onto more H. Rider Haggard, this time his famous Viking novel Eric Brighteyes, which I expect will have a whole lot more blood & thunder.

message 68: by Heather (new)

Heather (bruyere) I really liked "Golem" too. It was very different but interesting.

I am reading The Mermaid's Tale, which is quite dark so far.

Just a few more days to question Mr Lawrence. About this book, his previous books, how to decorate? Rocket science?

message 70: by Monica (new)

Monica Davis Finished Senlin Ascends...very good. Now on to a different sort of fantasy Al Franken, Giant of the Senate :-)

message 71: by Heather (new)

Heather (bruyere) Senlin Ascends was one of the best fantasy books I've run into that includes steampunk ideas. Book two was even better in my opinion. It's really exciting that he was picked up by a publisher!

Ctgt | 142 comments Started a buddy read of Black Sun Rising Black Sun Rising (The Coldfire Trilogy, #1) by C.S. Friedman

message 73: by Elise (new)

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I finished Age of Swords the other day. It was flawed for me. First Sullivan book I've read that I feel that way about. I still really enjoyed it anyway because of the solid characters.

I'm back to reading The Lost Symbol, which has been pretty enjoyable so far.

message 74: by Angela (new)

Angela | 235 comments I'm reading The Brightest Fell (October Daye, #11) by Seanan McGuire and so far it's probably one of more favourite books in the series to date.
