Beth | 2 comments Mary Stewart's books are well written and quite clean. Aside from the Merlin stories (A Crystal Cave and The Hollow Hills) my favorite is My Brother Michael.

Scott (smchure) | 77 comments You can't go wrong with John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, or Ray Bradbury. Gabriel García Márquez is also really good, especially One Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera, although he can be a little dense.

Cynthia (cynnich) | 38 comments Anything by Agatha Christi for Mysteries. If you are into Fantasy you could read David Eddings. I don't remember any sex in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy either.

Grey Wolf | 49 comments Maybe you want to read some historical fiction like Jean Plaidy?

message 61: by Pat (new)

Pat | 13 comments I would suggest !Colleen Coble especially the Rock Harbor series, about search and rescue dogs, and the Mitford series by Jan Karon, about a sweet Episcopalian priest and the town he lives in. Very charming.

Pat | 13 comments Frances Parkinson Keyes, an author from the fifties, I think. Great writer...loved Came a Cavalier...historical fiction from both world wars in France. Also would recommend Eugenia Price's Savannah series.

Anything by Georgette Heyer (historical romances) is going to be clean.

Emmy (emmy205) | 99 comments Try The Hobbit. There's no sex, no foul language, and minimal violence. I read this as a kid, and it's been one of my favorite books ever since!
