Why Do You Read/ Your Reading Journey

Created by Tanya, Jul 30, 2017 4 views
Tanya We all have many reasons why we became the bookworms and bibliophiles that we are today :)

Here you can discuss what started your passion for reading and why you read books.
Kasia Well, my reading started when I was in elementary school, primarily with the Thea Stilton and Rainbow Magic series. Thea Stilton And The Mystery In Paris Katie the Kitten Fairy

I loved these series so much as a kid, they were my treasure. My dad introduced me to classics by taking me to Chapters (the Canadian book store franchise, our only one!) and buying a bunch of classics. I wasn't really interested in classics until last year, and I finally picked up the books my dad got me, including The Secret Garden, which became a favourite! The Secret Garden As I got older, my good friend Brittany (who I am still friends with now) introduced me to older reading (aka YA) and she told me about Goodreads! So, I made my account and I was encouraged to read more, and that is what happened! Then I discovered booktube and that opened me up to a whole new world of books! I tend to read what everyone is talking about, and a bunch of my books on my shelf come from booktuber recommendations! Now I can call myself an avid reader and I LOVE to read!

I love being part of such a cosy reading community, which is probably the most educated community I have ever been a part of.
Tanya I enjoyed reading about your journey Kasia :)

My reading journey is quite simple :) I started reading Jacqueline Wilson and Roald Dahl books when I was in primary school but I didn't start reading again till I read Twilight when I was 16.

I still wasn't into reading when I got into college because I had to read To Kill A Mockingbird for class and I didn't like it at the time. I had to read a lot of books to kick start my love of reading.

I can't say I'm an avid reader yet because I haven't read many books but I hope to read more in the future :)
