Becca (settingshadow) | 6 comments I read this book in the late 1980's/early 1990's. There were a pair of boys and it was summer vacation. The girl next door would sunbathe in her backyard every day, and she would untie her bikini top while she sunbathed. The boys would try to distract her and get her to sit up with her top untied. There was also an unattractive/chubby girl (who may have actually been the protagonist.) The book ends with it being the next summer and there's an even hotter girl sunbathing next to the neighbor girl and it turns out to be the chubby girl, who lost a ton of weight. At the very end, the neighbor girl gets distracted and sits up topless, but the boys are themselves distracted by the formerly chubby girl so they don't notice.

Although this all sounds super risque, the book is aimed at tweens or even younger and I think the tone is an uplifting story of how the unpopular chubby girl could turn her life around. I think the cover is yellow and it may be a scholastic (scholastic apple) but I'm not sure.

Becca (settingshadow) | 6 comments I can't find any information about that book, but the cover doesn't look familiar, and I don't recall either the title nor the author, so I think not, but thanks!

Becca (settingshadow) | 6 comments That sounds so close, but it was published in 2009 and the latest I could have possibly read this was 95

Abby | 9 comments I have also been looking for this book! I found this page from typing in my own description of the book. I found it finally it's The Biggest Klutz in Fifth Grade by Bill Wallace
