David Raz (davidraz) | 13124 comments This seems redundant

Since we already have this one:
https://www.goodreads.com/series/1310...

And also judging from the way other comics series are collected.

What do you think?

I saw in many cases that a series of the TPBs is created in addition to the series of singles. I'm not saying it is appropriate, just that it is common.

I deleted the redundant singles series, feel free to delete the TPBs series if that's the policy/custom.

lethe | 16368 comments With TPBs, you mean trade paperbacks? I just saw a series of collected volumes that are also listed on the complete series page:

David Raz (davidraz) | 13124 comments Yes, TPBs are trade paperbacks. I'm not an expert but the original collection of comic books would be referred to a TPB. You may later have all sort of other collections like collector editions etc. not to speak of foreign language translations which can use different formats of collections.

I quite often see a series collecting single issues (e.g. Witchblade) and this will also include every possible collection which include any issues. Then you'll have the TPB series which only includes TPBs (e.g. this). I don't typically create TPB series as I think the singles series is enough, but I don't remove them as duplicates either as they are a "series" of sorts. Again, not sure what the policy should be, but it appears to be the custom.

lethe | 16368 comments I would think having them listed on one page with the single issues would be enough, just as the single issues don't need their own separate page.

But I'm not well versed in comics series, so I'm not going to touch them.

Krazykiwi | 1767 comments I don't think the TPB collections are redundant, anymore than foreign series are redundant, since they differ in the same way: The numbering is different. #1 of the TPB series might contain #1-12 of the single issues, but they almost universally are clearly numbered #1 on the covers. Then you have things like the Marvel Deluxe hardcover collections, which often differ yet again.

On the other hand, I don't hardly touch comics here anymore, nor do I shelve them, since the titles are always all screwed up. So what do I know.

A lot more than I do about series, that's for sure! :)
